Re: Hybrid vs Liberty masks - your opinion please!!

I have both, but strongly prefer the Hybrid.

The chin cup really helps in getting it adjusted.

Without a chin cup, the Liberty tends to put most of the pressure on the upper lip. I find my top teeth actually hurt in the morning from the continuous pressure.

Re: sore nose

Finding the right mask seems to be one of the toughest parts of starting CPAP. The Quatro was also my first mask, and the sore nose just kept getting worse. If it does not improve you may want to consider one of the hybrid style masks which cover the mouth, but have pillows that go right into your n...

Re: Contour pillow: do you like?

I use one of the cheap contour foam pillows from Sams club. Works great. The pillow is firm enough that I can put my head right up to the edge. Mask is actually hanging off the edge of the pillow so there is nothing pushing against it. The pillow is narrower than a normal pillow, which actually help...

Re: Hybrid v Liberty

I have both, but for me the Hybrid is the hands down winner. The chin cup on the Hybrid is an important addition. Without it, I find the Liberty puts a lot of pressure on the upper lip. By morning my upper teeth actually hurt. The Hybrid takes the bulk of the pressure on the chin. Having all the siz...

Re: cpap and dental decay

I use a full face mask, and even with the humidifier often wake up with a very dry mouth. While I have not seen any additional cavities, my dentist was concerned and mentioned that a dry mouth from whatever cause, could lead to additional decay. He prescribed a high fluoride tooth paste to try and t...

Re: Resmed Card Reader doesn't work

In reading through the post I was not able to find what sort of computer you are running on so I am not certain if this will apply, but.... When I first installed mine a couple of years back I also had big problems. I finally found the solution on the ACS support site. If you are using a Wireless ne...

Re: A $$ question

Call your insurance company directly and find out what is covered. Don't believe what the DME is telling you. The person you are talking to is likely a salesperson, not an expert on your insurance coverage. In my experience with Aetna, the deal was a rent to own. Ten months of rental payments and th...

Re: Mirage Liberty Hybrid mask

Coming from the Swift, any of the full face masks will feel huge and heavy. Unfortunately us mouth breathers don't really have much of a choice. The Hybrid will be even larger and heavier than the Liberty, but for me it is a clear choice. Much more flexible on the sizing, and for me a generally more...

Re: Liberty Mask

I would tend to agree with some of the others.

I found the Liberty to be more comfortable than most other full face masks, so I don't think it's a bad choice, but for me the Hybrid is more comfortable and is my number one choice.

Re: I'm mad as heck and I'm not gonna take it any more!

I'm glad that worked out for you on the insurance. My insurance company actually hit me with the deductible twice. They required a 10 month rental to own the machine. Since I started in June, I had to pay that years deductible, then when the 10 months carried it into the new year I got to pay the de...

Re: No worries about power outages!

So what do you use as a battery backup?? I would be interested in the brand and type. I have two UPS for my computer equipment, but they both start beeping as soon as the power goes out with no option for turning it off. Might keep my CPAP running, but the beeping is loud enough to prevent going bac...

Re: AHI's way too high

The fact that you are getting a big number in the last half hour before you get up may mean you are actually not sleeping. I have similar patterns of high HI's when I'm going to sleep, and again in the morning when I'm really awake, but still trying to get another couple of winks. When you are awake...

Re: My Big Red Nose

Sounds like you're telling my story. In two years of therapy the only night I missed was with a bleeding blister on my nose from the Quatro. Could not put the mask back on. Next day got a Liberty on loan from my DME. Spent another six months trying every FF mask on the market. Have used tape, molesk...

Re: Best Full Face Mask?

I am a little concerned that your post does not describe leaks at all. You describe waking with your mask totally off, or mask on with the machine not running, but nothing about leaks. I would start by checking the machine. It sounds like it is set to auto start. I am not a fan of that setting for j...

Re: Apneas when semi-awake with the mask on?

Try paying attention sometime when just driving down the road. You'll find your breathing is not that regular when you are awake. I have the some problem. I frequently wake up around 4am and never really get back to sleep. My AHI's are near zero when I'm asleep but when mostly awake the AHI's go thr...
