Re: BCBS of Texas Federal Employee Plan

Well the BCBS of Texas FEP Plan does not pay anything towards CPAP.com purchases. I'll still defray some of the costs with my medical flex spending plan though. Thank you for the input.

Re: BCBS replacement schedule

You do realize that you are using 2 different deductibles, right? There is an in network one and an out of network one and paying on one doesn't add anything to the other one. The plan literature doesn't say that. It says 300 per person, 600 per family. Are you sure the federal employee plan works ...

Re: Newby Questions

The info from Paul about accessing the clinical menu is very helpful. You can get a good amount of information out of there.

Re: BCBS replacement schedule

I also get "two" replacement pillows every 30 days. I ordered 'two' from DME. Upon opening the shipment, there was 'one'. Each nare pillow counts as one. Go figure! Seriously? That sounds like a scam to me. I'd tell them if that is two, send me one. Will they cut it in half? I don't think they can ...

Re: Need Advice on ResMed & Humidifier and brief power outages

You may want to look into a voltage regulator/conditioner. http://www.amazon.com/APC-LE1200-1200VA-Voltage-Regulator/dp/B00009RA60/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1232297647&sr=8-1 This one is $50. You may want to check with the manufacturer to see if they promise a true sine. You could al...

Re: BCBS replacement schedule

So the schedule appears to indicate that you can get 2 replacement nasal pillows every 30 days.

I wonder if the insurance company will fight me if I actually get that many.

Re: BCBS replacement schedule

I'm currently working in the Bahamas so I have to pay cash for everything medical and get reimbursed from BCBS so I'm used to the paperwork. If I used a BCBS Preferred DME in the US and had them ship me the supplies, I'd have to pay for 15% of the costs once my deductible has been met. if I used CPA...

BCBS replacement schedule

Hi, I've been using an APAP for about 9 months now and I sleep much better and rarely nap any more. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield (Fed Employee - Standard Option). Is BCBS's replacement schedule the same as Medicare? I have a plan where I can use any provider but I have a $300 per person, $600 per f...

Nasal Mask cushion

I've used the mask for about 3.5 weeks. Lately, it has been leaking a bit around the edges. I think it's because of facial oils. I've washed the nasal cushion with mild dilute dish soap. Do you think facial oils lead to leaking? What else can I do to restore the texture/sealing ability to the nasal ...

The lady at my DME says that snores = HI with the resmed. So you start to snore and the Resmed machine logs an HI and increases pressure to stop the snoring. I have a Resmed and simply follow the AI and ignore the HI.

I have the same nasal mask. It shouldn't be that loud. Check where the hose meets the mask. There's a piece of plastic that should be *clicked* firmly into place. It says "click" on it. Also, if you are using an insulated hose cover, make sure the hose cover isn't too close to the mask exhaust port....

My titrated pressure was 14. The Autoset II indicated a pressure of 11.2. I've been told that it displays the pressure you were at or below for 95% of the night.

I have used baby shampoo so far, but I may try the 7th or Ivory dish soap. It's nice to know what options are available.

Another question: Do you dismantle the entire mask assembly before cleaning, or do you just remove the headgear and dunk the entire mask?

Washing equipment

I've read posts about which soap to use, but the search function is letting me know. What brands are people using to clean their mask/hose/humidifier?

Thanks.
