Re: Do I still need cpap?
Another week has gone by and I seem to going ok with my apap set at low 4, high 13. Last nights readings were 90th = 4.5, 95th = 4.5, AHI =1, NRI = 0.25, EPI 1. It has been much the same as this for the last week, (AHI was 3.5 one night). I haven't felt any more tired than usual. Can't get in for a ...

Re: Do I still need cpap?
Set my machine at low 4.0 and high 13.0 last night, as it seems the 3.0 setting probably caused the high EPI reading by forcing me to breathe through my mouth on occasions. Results this morning were : 95th = 4.5 90th =4.5 AHI 1.5 NRI = 0.25 EPI =3 These figures are certainly encouraging. Dreamdriver...

Re: Do I still need cpap?
thanks for your replies. yes, I realise it is too early to make a call on whether I may not need cpap and that a sleep study will be necessary, but just wondering if what I have outlined sounds a possibility. EPI by the way stands for Exhale Puff Index which doesn't seem to be included in terms list...

Do I still need cpap?
I had a sinus infection for a few weeks and was unable to use my machine. Have had no real feeling of tiredness while not using it and my wife said she only noticed me snoring a little one night, and that I seem to be sleeping peacefully, without moving around and twitching like i did pre cpap. I wa...

Re: Help...snoring and flying
I use a dental device/mouthguard/mandibular splint for a couple of nights away instead of taking my cpap. it stops my snoring and significantly reduces apnea events. Bought thru ebay for about $60.

Re: DeVilbiss Intellipap questions
Hello I have never had a data capable machine, or an apap, and am not particularly computer literate. I have had a Fisher and paykel for 8 yrs and it has been great, but now would like a 12v capable machine with apap. Will the Auto intellipap provide the data Massey mentions in the original post, wi...

OT Unable to Logon or Read Posts
Hello, for the past week or so on both my pc's at home I have been unable to read posts or log on to this site. Takes 5 mins just to access the site where previously 10 seconds. No problem on my work pc. I don't think I have upset anyone. Any idea why I would be having this problem? Thanks Ken D Bri...

Thanks BigDaddy
Interested in your comment that AHI and Arousal Index are not the same. I don't really understand the terms and figures, are you able to elaborate. Particularly with regard to Arousal Index of 8.5 being ok.

Re: Still wake up gasping with CPAP
Sounds to me like you may be mouth breathing, which gives me the sensation you describe. Try a chin strap to force yourself to nose breathe. My Breeze nasal pillow mask is great for side or stomach sleeping.

Re: Progress with a Dental Device
I use a dental device for overnight trips etc and find it ok for that. Something wrong with yours, or you are not suited to it though if you are snoring I would think.
Good luck

Received the report and it doesn't appear to give much more information.
SPO2% 93NREM, REM Baeline and Mean, no AHI figure but she said the Arousal index of 8.5 meant AHI 8.5

Re: Help to Interpret PSG Report Please
Thanks OCS Some good points. Have checked with the Sleep technician and my AHI was 8.5. She said it was not caused by my breathing or with problems with cpap or the mask. She felt that number was not a concern but if I wished i could discuss with their specialist, for a hefty fee of course. I think ...

Re: Help to Interpret PSG Report Please
thanks kteague The sleep study technician was very happy with how the latest sleepover went and I assume he checked those things out. However when I first started with the nasal pillow mask I was very conscious of the very unpleasant feeling when I allowed my mouth to open and am confident that does...

Re: Help to Interpret PSG Report Please
G'day Bigdaddy Unfortunately the report doesn't mention AHI, which I found a bit strange. I was hoping that the Arousal Index and perhaps sleep time details may allow some learned people to calculate it, or another meaningful indicator. If not, I can try contacting the Sleep Physician. In Oz, the sl...
