[quote="ozij"]Another fan of the deconstructed Headrest (aka Aura). And there is absolutely nothing violent about the NeilMed squeeze bottle. I have tried both the pot and the bottle - and find the bottle far more convenient. You can squeeze it gently - that's actually recommended - and it's wonderf...

Re: I'm 3 MONTHS on CPAP and still can't get to sleep

6. ...on CPAP I feel that I am forced to take long, measured breaths. I become hyper-aware of my breathing and this helps to keep me awake. I also feel as if I am not fully filling my lungs with air (I have had a pulmonary function test and am not asthmatic, nor do I have any breathing problems) Yo...

A couple of things you could try. Some kind of white noise, either a fan or an actual noise generator, to help distract you and make the machine noise fade into the background. Also, I have used Breathe Right Strips for a while, they help with congestion and you don't have to worry about rebound. A...

Only thing I can say is that I don't think about the breathing really. Do you have your exhilation pressure relief turned on?? (on Resmed it is EPR, Remstar it is C-flex). This helps me a bit. I have woken up claustrophobic on occasion and have come to terms with the fact that this mask is helping ...

Adam, not being a doc, I can only advocate A DIFFERENT MASK. The Headrest is highly touted for stomach sleepers. I'd suggest that one first. The Nasal Aire II doesn't have the hose and barrel issues the Swift does. It never touches my upper lip, and doesn't rub my nares raw. The dual hoses can be c...

-To help you relax, you might try Pursleep - a sort of essential oils in special blends that you can use together with the CPAP. I've read it helps many people relax, fall asleep, and stay asleep. Check with "sleepguy" - he was recently starting a trial for people who had the "mask off during sleep...

Big Lots gives me a kick back, too. Just like Innomed. Okay, let's find cheap pillows online: $15.88 at Walmart - Bingo!: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5934839 Now, before all you left-wing nut jobs (aka, My Particular Species) holler at me for shopping at Walmart, let me jus...

I'm 3 MONTHS on CPAP and still can't get to sleep

Hi Everyone I've had my CPAP machine now for 3 months. I've gone through the following series of masks (in this order) Swift Optilife Comfort Gel Then got a scrip for full face mask and have tried: Quattro Hybrid My problem with the Swift/Optilife/Comfort Gel nasal-only interfaces are that I have al...

I am a fellow stomach sleeper. I posted a similar question a short while back which may be of use to you. http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=31204&highlight= I just started CPAPping and am currently trying out both the optilife and swift II masks. I personally found the swift unbearable.... I s...

Re: Rant mode on

[quote="tony22"]Can someone explain to me why the xPAP industry seems to want its patients to think that they have some kind of problem that laypeople just won't understand? In particular I'm talking about the software made by the manufacturers for analysis of treatment data. I called cpap.com to fi...

I'm CPAPing now... with mixed results

Thanks to everyone who helped and guided me through my trials and tribulations with UCLA's sleep center. I eventually decided to get a referral from my endocrinologist, a doctor who I trust. Sadly, his referral turned out to be a pretty sleazy guy... turns out this doctor was his own DME and patient...

Last night.... status report!

Here's the data from last night.... (I used the swift, and switched from medium to the large size) Leakage rate went down from 0.4 to 0.1 L/s AHI remained similar, though AI was slightly lower and HI was higher-- 5.3 with AI of 0.4 and HI of 4.9 Again, I woke up with sinus congestion so I wonder if ...

[quote="DreamStalker"]My take is that you can't go by one night's worth of data. If you had a split-night PSG where you were diagnosed during the first part and titrated during the second part, your titration may not represent your actual AHI either. If you did not get to REM sleep during titration ...

[quote="ozij"]You'll find all the terms and acronyms defined and explained in the blue links at the bottom of your post. Those results would bother me too - but before you do any tweaking of the machine's pressure, check all you hose and mask connections. That leak rate, when the machine knows it ha...
