Re: CPAP and TSA
Can't be helped, so just go with the flow. They aren't seeing anything suspicious. TSA regulations state they have to check it. I'm going to the Netherlands this spring and looked at the TSA screening process to see what kind of issues I might have and read that it's just standard procedure. You are...

Re: A $$ question
Unfortunately, this sounds quite in line with insurance companies and DME's. I would look at the agreement you signed when you picked up the machine to see the terms you agreed to. If it doesn't say anything about purchasing it outright then give them the machine back and say thanks but no thanks. I...

Nope, it's the same as it was before therapy.

Re: Resmed S9 Question
Have your dr. rewrite the prescription for an autoadjusting CPAP. Call your insurance company to verify that they do in fact cover for an auto CPAP. That way if the DME tries to tell you no, you can let them know you've already talked to your insurance company. Also, as long as your dr. prescription...

Re: How do we know that a OSA Dx isn't a scam?
Hey Larry, Ok, DME's...for me, I didn't have a great experience with them and I don't blame you for not trusting them. For me, I didn't appreciate the fact they tried to give me a different machine than what my dr. prescribed. The reasoning, they had a deal with ResMed and gave me the bare bones CPA...

APAP Opinions - S9 AutoSet vs. PR System One RemStar
I am looking to get a new apap and have narrowed my choices down to the ResMed S9 AutoSet and the PR System One REMstar and would like people's opinions on these machines. Whatever machine I get, I will be very involved in looking at my data, so please let me know how you like the software for each ...

Adjusting pressure...need advice from old timers
Hello all, I haven't been on here in quite awhile. Life has been great with my APAP and everything has been under control. Now to the crux of my problem, I'm looking to tweak my APAP settings and would like a little advice. I have lost 55 lbs and just had weight loss surgery. I noticed the last coup...

Some airlines don't allow use of certain equipment, even CPAP's during flight while others do. IF this is a great concern to you (would be to me too), is it possible you can have your travel agent change your ticket so you can use an airline that DOES allow the use of CPAP's? You may have to pay mor...

It sounds like the combination of not enough sleep and stopping your sleep medication might be it. Try to get to bed earlier, maybe even starting at 11 p.m. and then trying to work up to the 8 hours of sleep. Your body also needs time to get used to not using the sleep meds, so be patient you'll get...

Besides checking for major leaks (great suggestion btw), have you been getting enough sleep? How is your sleep hygiene? In other words are you going to bed at roughly the same time every night and getting 8 or 9 hours of sleep? If you have a partner, have they been restless? I have found if my DB is...

P&B 420e APAP develops a whine
Well after a little over a year and 3,382 hours of use, my little machine developed a high pitched whine. I checked out the hose and got a new plastic coupling for the humidifier, but found that didn't help. Sooo, off to the DME I went to turn it in. They (DME) said it would be sent in to be repaire...

Definitely check with your doctor regarding your falling episode. I have never heard of that in regards to sleep apnea. The memory problems can be a sign of apnea or a sign of a neurological problem. As for the foggyness you felt after one bad night, that's "normal." For me, if I have a bad night I ...

Erik, I also use a PB 420e APAP and can say that for me, APAP was the best option. I began my treatment at my prescribed pressure of 14 after a split night sleep study. After a month, I was still exhausted so my dr. had my pressure increased to 16. After a month of that and still being exhausted, I ...

Mike, Just because you have aerophagia right now, doesn't mean you need an auto CPAP or a change in pressure. Give it a little time. A lot of people get aerophagia in the beginning. I did and so did my sister. I began my treatment with a CPAP and did get over the aerophagia before I had to go to an ...

BobF4, Can you return the mask for another one? The reason she didn't get the titration might definitely have been the pressure. She could have also had an underlying problem with the mask as well. Even if you can't return the mask for a refund, it might be worth it to have her check out other masks...
