I started on CPAP approx 2 weeks ago. I have yet to sleep one night through with the mask on. Apparently, I am unconscioulsy ripping the mask off sometime during the night. I don't remember doing this.
Is this a normal phase to go through?

I typically consider myself as an accurate and effective communicator. I'm no Ronald Reagan, but I can get my point across... HOwever, with my wife and my best friend I have been unsuccessful in getting them to understand that I have a legitimate affliction for which the only solution is CPAP. To gi...

I went to National Sleep Center for my first and second study. It's North Central Austin close to Mopac and 35th. I'm not sure how to grade a sleep lab since it was my first time, but I have no complaints. The staff were very friendly and warm. The accomdations were so-so, but I'm used to staying in...

No gas with Nasal Mask only?
Does anyone know if it's true that if you use a nasal mask it'll prevent you from swallowing air and thus having gas / burping problems? Last night was my 2nd night on CPAP and I used the full face mask and had terrible, horrible gas which prevented me from sleeping. (And thus negating the whole pur...

Ok, I've filled out my profile with my equipment info. Last night was my 2nd night and I switched to the full face mask. I had terrible, horrible gas and burping which kept me awake. I went to bed around 10pm and woke up at 12:30 and couldn't go back to sleep until about 3am. Does the gas / bloating...

One of the ways I've found out that people don't "get it", is that they'll continue to ask about my mood or ask me to "cheer up". I'll explain a thousand times that my mood is fine, it's just that I'm completely drained of energy--so that's why I "appear" to be in a bad mood. They mistake exhaustion...

OSA - The Rodney Dangerfield of afflictions
"I get no respect" - In my very brief experience with OSA, it seems that it gets very little respect or sympathy. Maybe it's just not well known. Most people are not sympathetic or should I say realize just how debilitating chronic lack of sleep is. It feels like if I told somone "I have cancer", pe...

I will get my info and fill out my profile. I called the company that sent me my machine and mask (Apria) and set up an appt. this afternoon at their local office to go over set up with them and to pick up a full face mask. I apparently breath through both my mouth and nose so the nasal only mask wo...

Hi all, I'm a complete newbie to CPAP and OSA. I was just recently diagnosed with "moderate" sleep apnea after doing an overnight sleep study. I stopped breathing a total of 108 times ranging from 10 seconds to the longest one being 1:45 seconds. Anyway, I got my CPAP Machine yesterday. It's a respi...
