Hi Keko, Unfortunately the answer is we don't know exactly, everyone seems to be different. But it's possible that normal sleep cycles are restored right away, if cpap and the mask are working properly. I've even seen the graphs of a polysommography of someone undergoing the titration study with the...

Re: Rested Gal Posts

... Well, that's been the tough challenge for me as well. There are quite a few Rested Gal posts on cpaptalk.com, talkaboutsleep.com (TAS), sleepapnea.org (ASAA), and a couple other apnea message boards as well. It's gonna be tough, but in the next several days I'm going to try and pick out the pos...

Re: I am just glad that you are still alive!!

Maybe try a dental device since you couldn't find peace with your PAP box? What?!? Do you really think that Liam could manage to keep his mouth shut long enough to use a dental device?? Ok, a show of hands, how many of you suspect Liam talks in his sleep?? Seriously, and about a serious subject.......

When you really think about it, the best thing about these forums is for someone to come, get answers so they can get the setup working right, then move on. That can be the best compliment for a forum. Afterall, we started cpap in order to get our lives back. So it makes sense that those who find th...

Unfortunately, the "sleep" apnea is the word everyone focuses on. And as much as we scream "it's a breathing disorder!" people still think of it as just sleep .... what's so wrong with sleep? It's similar to how people sometimes treat people with clinical depression by saying "Just snap out if it!" ...

Re: Mouth-breathing

.... As I recollect, it was simply that I found the sensation of rpessurized air rushing out through my mouthy to be SO unpleasant that my body just took over and stopped it. ... Ha! For me, the pressure of 18 literally sucks my lips shut! So I can certainly relate to that. A sleep tech friend of m...

Hi Peter, Some heart conditions can be alleviated, some even eliminated, by effective treatment for OSA. But I'm guessing that this depends largely on how much OSA causes or plays a factor in the condition. I have a friend (also from Australia, by the way) who also has artial fibrillation as well as...

I agree that online support groups are wonderful and probably help the most people. But I also see the advantages of local support groups. I started one, and admittedly, it is small, darn small. But I found some interesting advantages to having even a small local support group. Depending on your are...

We sure did, Bamalady! Actually, there may be another reason why we wake frequently and head to the bathroom. I did so alot too, before knowing about apnea and being treated. But I noticed I was waking quite frequently, and always I figured it was a need to pee. So always I would head off to the bat...

Here are a couple of articles on the subject, with links: Nocturia, or nocturnal urination, is sometimes a symptom of sleep apnea. In fact, nocturia among younger individuals--who are less likely to have other medical causes of nocturia--is a strong indicator of sleep apnea. While the precise relati...

Hi there, Yep, you definitely have severe sleep apnea. Mild is an AHI of 5-15 per hour; moderate is 15-30; severe is 30 or more -- and yours is over 116 per hour. And apparently that severity of apnea is the same no matter what position you sleep in. It may be worse while sleeping on your back (whic...
