Re: Is Cflex hard on the machine?
I don't see any reason why varying the motor speed would increase wear. If anything, it should decrease wear slightly since it is running at a slower speed part of the time.

Re: getting info from M Series with c-flex
Is C-Flex turned on? Since C-Flex reduces pressure during the exhale, the average leak rate is going to be lower than it would be at a constant 6 cm. I think that leak rate is fine, but the AHI is high. This probably indicates a need for a higher pressure, but it would be good to look at the detaile...

Re: what is the best cflex machine to get ?
LinkC is correct. C-Flex is a trademark of Respironics. As such, it is only available on Respironics machines. The equivalent feature on ResMed machines is EPR. You may want to have your prescription written for "C-Flex or EPR" if you want to have a choice between Respironics and ResMed machines. I'...

Re: CPAP over 10,000ft - Need Advice
I'm not sure abouth the number, LinkC, but I'm sure about the direction: the machine pressure has to be raised . When a person was titrated at sea level - more or less - and the conclusion was a pressure of 10cm/h20 is needed, that is an ablsolute number. 10cm/h2o will keep their airway open, and th...

Re: CPAP over 10,000ft - Need Advice
Based on my understanding of how these machines work, I think it an auto-adjusting unit may work at higher altitudes. The pressure setting (10 cm H2O in your case) is a "gauge pressure". In other words, the machine should deliver air at a pressure that is 10 cm H20 higher than the atmospheric pressu...

It sounds like you have done your homework! Yes, both the Pro and the Auto are data capable. Talk to your sleep doctor (or whichever doctor will be writing the prescription) and ask that the prescription is written for a data-capable machine of patient's choice and mask of patient's choice. Kitchen ...

Re: Any Suggestions on First Night
My wife said I did not toss and turn like I usually do The first few nights (maybe a week or so), I don't think I moved at all. I got some good sleep that way, but I did end up with a sore back from sleeping in the same position all night! It sounds like you're getting off to a good start. Issues m...

Re: OT - Tailbone Pain- I need help
You may want to try a chiropractor. He may be able to determine the source of the pain and get the vertebrae adjusted to relieve at least some pain.
Also, you may have other problems along your spine due to that injury. The impact goes all the way up to your head.

I should also have said that not all M series integrated humidifiers are 12v capable, so make sure that's what the DME is giving you before you accept it. It's easy to tell by looking at the bottom of the machine. This one will also have the "J-tube" type of water reservoir which is less subject to...

For mine, they billed $3066.89, and insurance allowed $1840.13. That didn't include the $400 for some doctor I've never met ($276.75 allowed on that).

Re: Do I really have Obstructive Sleep Apnea?
I picked up the humidifier this morning. Not sure if I can find distilled water to use in it for the first couple of nights. I'm guessing the tank isn't dishwasher safe? I wouldn't put it in the dishwasher. If you do use tap water for a few nights, the mineral deposits should come out easily with s...

Re: Encore Viewer help
It could indicate a problem with the machine. Has he ever gotten water inside it? I did that once (oops!), and I had black bars until the pressure and flow sensors dried out enough to start working again. (They don't work if they get plugged up with water.) If you can't find an obvious problem (like...

Re: Cost of CPAP
Since you will be going through insurance, the price you'll actually pay will likely be less than the "sticker price", assuming you go with an "in-network" provider. Generally, insurance companies contract with the providers for services, and the providers can only charge the contract amount. For ex...
