I have only been on CPAP since October and I started with the Swift due to the raves it got on this site. It took a little getting use to but I loved it once I got comfortable with it. I figured that this would be my 'main' mask. I wanted a back-up mask to try and I chose to try the Activa for the s...

I have been using Flonase for about 3 years now but I was just diagnosed with OSA in October. When I met with my Neurologist that did my sleep study I told him that I use Flonase because I would get stuffy before bedtime and it seemed to help me breathe better thru my nose. He asked me a few questio...

ProfessorSleep, Sounds like you can't go wrong with either machine for travel. When I look at the pics of the 420 with the humidifier on CPAP.com it just looks bigger than the S8 with humidifier. But pictures can be deceiving. And just as much as size is a consideration so is weight. Thanks for the ...

I am also searching for a second APAP machine for travel. I am down to the PB420 and S8. The question I have is the size comparison of the PB420 WITH the integrated humidifier vs the S8 WITH the integrated humidifier. For anyone that has seen both of these side by side the info would be helpful. In ...

pokey, This may depend on the extent of your rain out problem. I had minor rain out a few nights, but I dont like the very warm air blowing up my nose so I have my humidifier either off (with water), or on low; 1-2 setting. I bought a hose cover off ebay delivered for like $12. No rain out problems ...

Hi Jen, I have been on CPAP for a couple months now and fortunately I have an excellent Sleep Center (NOT a DME) that lets me try any mask I want to see if I like it before I buy it. I have tried five different ones so far. I have tried the Comfort Gel and Activa. I thought the Comfort Gel was good ...

Great pics DSM! I am an Engineer and can appreciate the inner workings of anything mechanical. I have only been on CPAP for two months and I have already wondered what the inside of the unit looked like and how it worked. I can already see myself disassemling my Remstar Auto piece by piece on the ki...

Yes I am using Derek's My Encore and it does make understanding the data much easier. My confusion was before CPAP I had no idea of what the terminology meant...apnea, hypopnea, AHI, flow limitation, oxygen desaturations, etc. etc. I had no idea of what the data was showing me. My Sleep Tech explain...

I agree all the data can be a bit confusing since I have only been on CPAP for a month and I am still trying to understand what it all means. If you can, try and call your Sleep Center and speak to one of the Technicians and they may be able to explain it to you. I was able to that and now I have a ...

Lori, I agree with Dave! I don't know you either and I have only been on CPAP for a month now, but as I read many postings I always look for YOUR responses to others postings. Your experience and insight is invaluable to many of us on here looking for support and wisdom. I could care less what your ...

Tammy, Yes I do have an excellent Sleep Center and Staff. I completely bypassed the DME after reading the horror stories written on here. My insurance allowed me to buy direct from CPAP.com and they reimbursed me 100% and they even paid for the Encore Pro software!! That shocked me when I received t...

Thanks Sunflower and mikemoran. It makes sense about the surface area of the mask. Here is my experience the last two nights. I used the Somnoplus Thursday night and filled the humidifier as usual but kept it turned OFF. No rainout issues and I slept great. Like I said in my original post I am playi...

Rainout Question
I have a question for the CPAP experts! I have been on CPAP for a month now and I have been loving my Swift so far. I wanted to get an alternate mask so I could rotate every couple weeks. I took my Sleep Center up on their standing offer to try any masks that I wanted; to see if I liked them (free o...
