travel machine

I travel every week and take my machine with me. I have an Aeiomed which I have found not to be particularly durable. On the other hand, I also have a GoodKnight 420E. I have positively beaten the crap out of that machine over an extended time and nothing kills it. Because I hate to be delayed, I ch...

GERD

When I suffered from GERD, I relied on an OTC product called Gaviscon recommended by my Gastroenterologist. Its principal advantage is that it also works when you are horizontal - ie you can take it before going to bed and it keeps working. I found that for me, it worked better than other antacids. ...

Travel

I travel every week and have yet to encounter a problem with TSA in the airports. RG has a good suggestion on the extension cord. I also travel with an adapter to allow two plugs as my CPAP and humidifier both have power plugs and hotel outlets are at a premium. If traveling becomes a habit, I also ...

Frostman

Don't let them talk you into a Girly Man approach. You can duct tape (a manly approach) a rubber door stop to the bottom of the lock box. This will alter the angle of the nose piece and take up the slack in the velcro straps. You too can be "Tool Time" without suffering the ridicule of a "Mantyhose"...

Edema

Another cause of edema in legs/feet etc. is prescription medications. It is a side effect of an assortment of drugs.

Travel CPAP

I travel every week and use the 420e as my travel machine, complete with heated humidifier. I use the travel bag from my Remstar home machine to pack the 420e along with hose, mask and an Aquafina bottle of distilled water so I don't "gunk" up the reservoir. I have traveled with this as a carry on b...

Vernors

LoRi-

Vernors is a regional version of ginger ale. People like me use cases of it to gain entry to homes of people who have moved away and have become desperate to satisfy their addiction. It can induce hugs, kisses, and even free meals or alcohol! (Gender specific on some of those!)

Names

I haven't named the machine, but have come to think of the process as "Becoming BORG." I suppose that would make everyone here the "Collective." (RG-I guess that makes you the Queen.)

When I had GERD, in addition to the prescription medications, I found Gaviscon liquid to help a lot. My GastroE recommended that and it seems to keep working when the patient is horizontal.
