Re: Men of a Certain Age

Looking better? Getting respect? Maybe I should think about becoming an actor. Nah, obviously all you need is a Mirage Quattro. Yeah, I know, nasal pillows are for sissies, and real men wear full-face. But the Quattro smears my face cream and doesn't match my Gilligan's Island pajamas. Heck, if you...

Re: TSA experience December 2010

...Several others have reported their machines were not swabbed recently. That's a step in the right direction. [/u] ( ) Guess they are getting used to CPAPs. Now that I notice such things, there is a HUGE number of people (mostly men) with CPAP bags on their shoulders trekking thru airports these ...

Re: Questions for Pr S1 Auto A-Flex users

... Regardless, it really IS a matter of comfort, and the best way to figure out what you like is just trial and error. I agree, you'll need to experiment to find YOUR specific comfort level. A bit of a nuisance, but well worth it. For me A-Flex just didn't feel comfortable. My sweet spot, at least...

Re: Improved(?) PR 1 Filters

Do you know if they've discontinued the old style filters? If they perform better, I'd prefer to keep using them. I've had no problems with "pop-outs" like others have reported. The M series and the PR 1 use the exact same filter, so just order ones for the M series. I'm afraid you'll find that the...

I like your solution, but I doubt that Respironics will provide that information.

Improved(?) PR 1 Filters

Respironics has revised their white CPAP filters for the PR1 in an attempt to avoid "pop outs." However, they not only removed the tab, they also removed most of the filter material. These "new and improved" filters are now almost paper-thin. It would appear that these redesigned filters will be MUC...

... Now let's see you measure it when it's located on a stand that's 12" high, in low light conditions, and with arthritic knees. That's MY situation. Oh well, I doubt that any xPAP manufacturer can design a machine that will always fulfill everyone's special requirements. For me, having owned thre...

Re: Respironics PR System 1 users ??

You don't have to open a lid and pull the tank out to see how much water is in a Resmed H3i or H4i. Just look at your Sy7 or S8 sitting on the night stand. And the same holds true for the Respironics Legacy series (the tanks). None of these had water problems. Only the M Series did. Have you actual...

Re: How many masks do you have?

... I propose that full-face masks are more effective and actually better for more people with pressures over 10 than nasal masks. If someone has proof that nasal masks deliver better therapy in more people with a pressure over 10 than full face masks, I'll change my opinion. Otherwise, all we have...

Re: Respironics PR System 1 users ??

The PR carrrying case (and previous Respironics case from the Legacy series) have never had the padding that the Resmed S8 carrying cases have. Given the COST of these PAPs I much prefer having that extra padding!!!! AND the Respironics Legacy series humidifier and the Resmed H3i and H4i humidifier...

Re: Poll: Who is your treating physician?

It is a fine line between my primary doctor who wanted me to have a sleep study and the pulmonologist who read and monitors the read out and adjusts it accordingly. They frequently talk with each other regarding my therapy. Pretty much my situation also with the exception that I send the pulmonolog...

Re: Respironics PR System 1 users ??

Good grief folks, the additional humidifier capacity, and its "no spill" design (short of turning the machine upside down), far outweigh any minuscule problems with refilling it. I refill mine from a gallon bottle of distilled water, and the only time I remove the lid is when the bottle is first ope...
