Re: New to CPAP, having difficulty adjusting to it
Drone: Thanks for the info. Since you're a mouth breather, I assume you have to wear a chin strap with the pillows? Or does the chin support of the headgear suffice? The Optilife chin strap is all the strap I need. But you just have to experiment and find what works for you. As this forum proves, t...

Re: Respiratory Rate Fluctuations?
Ken, until you get control of your Quattro leak problems, I don't think your S9 is going to be giving you trustworthy info. Get the leakage under control first, then you can worry about (or ignore) whatever other feedback your machine is generating. My 2 cents.

Re: leaks waking me up, need suggestions please
OK, so this is just my opinion, but I don't see how anybody can use nasal pillows with a mask that doesn't have an integrated chin strap. Seems like the AirFit mentioned above or your Nuance are doomed to fail. All of 'em. I realize that lots of people use them, but I'm much too restless a sleeper. ...

Re: Looking for recommendations from actual userss
Three years ago I went from a Respironics Remstar "M" Series to a System One and I found the System One even easier to setup and use than the M series. You can use the same tube and mask. There are quite a few System One's on Craigslist. If they don't know how many blower hours it has, tell them to ...

Re: head cold and stuffy nose
My approach to a stuffy nose is a little different--I go on the attack. I start with Afrin (oxymetazoline hydrochloride) spray. That works 99% the time. If it doesn't, then I step it up and whack each nostril with a hit of the Canadian version of Dristan Nasal Mist (5% phenylephrine hydrochloride). ...

"Krankenhaus"? I had to google that one. Turns out it's German for hospital. I kinda like that. Krankenhaus. Yeah. Sounds good.
I wonder when the OP is gonna reply.

Re: Night 3 that alien thing on my face...
On that microfiber--check eBay for microfiber "tubes" that slip over the straps on the mask. Search for CPAP hose cover. I contacted one of those sellers and had them make a custom set EXACTLY the way I wanted. About the frustration--everybody has a different length "fuse". I didn't get frustrated u...

Re: Lincare screwed me over, who should I write to?
I would like to recommend that all users who are unhappy with their DME's write your complaint to me. Please include a $20 bill in the envelope. I will make sure your complaint gets to the right people. This offer is only good for the next two years. After that, I'm gonna buy a villa in France with ...

Re: Slightly frustrating DME visit
The one single biggest reason I joined this forum 6 years ago after 4 years of mistreatment by DME's, was to get access to the Clinician's Manual so I could set up my machine CORRECTLY to give me EFFECTIVE therapy. I have not had ANY problem with DME's since then!! Whenever I need a new machine (I'm...

Re: tubing for travel?
Don't underestimate the power of duct tape! Probably want to keep the end pieces intact, so just hack out a section from the middle of your hose then duct tape the two ends back together. You might have to replace the duct tape every once in a while but that's no big deal.

Re: CPAP with a cold
I use nasal pillows exclusively. 10 years now. For colds and allergies, I always keep some Afrin on hand to treat a stuffed up nose--but I only use it at bedtime. If it's really really bad, then I reach for the Neo-Synephrine. Both are over-the-counter nasal sprays.

Re: Kinda Silly Question
I use the Optilife nasal pillow system system so I just hit the OFF button, then toss the headgear on my pillow. On return, headgear takes less than 5 seconds to put on and machine re-starts automatically. The most important things to remeber here are (1) DON'T TURN ON THE LIGHT! otherwise you'll ne...

Re: New to CPAP, having difficulty adjusting to it
Hey, Roy, I'm a mouth breather like you. Had EXACTLY the same experience with the full face mask and the nasal mask. Full face was just an all-around disaster. Nasal mask was pretty cool the way it worked, but couldn't sleep with it at all. Solution was Nasal Pillows. 10 years now and I sleep like a...
