Re: quick humidifier question
Thanks Jerry. This HC300 has the two nipples on the top. The valve is at the inside base of one of the nipples, barely visible, and looks a bit like a flapper. The plate on the heater (which I don't plan to use) was the model befor FP added the "ambient" temperature sensor. I found the user manual f...

quick humidifier question
I have a Fisher Paykel humidifier that I have not used in years -- maybe a decade. It has an HC300 "permanent" water chamber. There are two tube nipples. One has a valve of some kind in it, the other does not. Now I need the humidifier. I can't find the manual. Does the short tuble go from the cpap ...

Re: Flying with CPAP
Have done it many times. Use a plug if available, and a Lithium ion battery if no plug is available. I take an inside (window) seat, set the cpap on the floor, run the hose up across my chest, cover myself with a blanket, and sleep like a baby. Not once has anyone even blinked or paid the slightest ...

Re: Flying with CPAP
Economy, or premium economy. Sometimes Business. Never First.
I just set the machine on the floor by my feet, and run the mask tube up from there. Since you don't toss, turn, or roll around a lot, the standard mask tube is plenty long enough.

Re: Flying with CPAP
Do it often, and have done so recently on British Air, United, and Lufthansa. I carry a light weight Lithium Ion battery that will power my machine for 10 hours between charges in my CPAP case. They are FAA approved as carry-on, but not as checked baggage. That said, I have almost always been able t...

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.
Been on the mask over 15 years. Sleep like a baby. (Apap has been the biggest advance in technology over that time span, imho, at least as far as ease of use is concerned.) Anyway, you would have a far easier time talking me out of my first born than you would have of talking me out of my cpap machi...

Re: CPAP travel and batteries
I use a LI battery that I bought from batteryspace dot com. Light as a feather, and works like a champ.

Re: POLL: What is your TYPICAL nightly AHI?
That settled, can we move on to a more important subject. Like the number of angels that can dance on the head of a pin, or the number of whiskers in the Kaiser's beard?

Re: Yacht cruising and cpap
Been there, done that. No problems, but did not have any especially "wild" weather. I used a battery at night and recharged it from the boat generator during the day. The machine was secured so it never got thrown around, and it stayed dry.

Re: POLL: What was your AHI at your diagnostic sleep study?
My study was 15 years ago. I don't remember the number, but I could hardly ever forget what my doctor said: "If you don't have UUUP surgery TOMORROW you could be dead or seriously brain damaged by the day after." And he went on to tell me that even with the surgery, which he called painful and dread...

Re: Another battery question
Nothing that about four two-pound LI batteries wouldn't take care of, if you want to shell out about $700.00! Actually, there probably are LI's with a lot more "horsepower" than the one I use (110wh) that would get the job done. If I went six to 8 days without my machine I would be a zombie after da...

Re: Another battery question
What is the longest period you will be away from an ac or dc charging source? Will the wilderness be deep woods, where solar might not help, or sunny? A fixed location as in camp site, or constant moving? The place I got my LI has a solar charger option, but that would be useless in deep woods, I wo...

Re: Help: mask is tight, but leak is high 48 L/min
For what it's worth, my doctor used a default mode of 10 for my original setting, on the theory that the DME would adjust it after reading a few months worth of results. My AHI came in at around 9. After a week, I raised my pressure setting to 12, and my AHI dropped to an average of 1.1. There it ha...

Re: Another battery question
Are you going to schlep a heavy deep cycle battery on your trip out into the wilderness, or stay close enough to a vehicle to be able recharge a portable battery during the day? I had great success with my little 2 pound litium ion (11.1V 10Ah [111 Wh, 7A] from (batteryspace dot com) on a boat that ...

Setting your own pressure, revisited
Was minding my own business, watching WEEDS on Showtime, when my front door was kicked in by ten fully armed storm troopers. Figured they had me, so I fessed up -- "Okay, you got me, my whole house is a grow house, and I have tons of pot here." "Couldn't care less," they responded. Okay, so you know...
