Re: Need help on how to sleep on my back

My 95% pressure level data point is 12.6cm. I am not sure if that is an average pressure, or a maximum pressure the APAP is producing. This means that 95% of the time, your pressure is at 12.6 cm or less. Do you think 12cm Minimum and 20 cm Maximum a good place to start? If it were me, I would set ...

Re: Need help on how to sleep on my back

It's common to need more pressure on the back as compared to sleeping on one's sides. If you are running straight CPAP, I would switch to APAP. Set the minimum pressure at 10 and maximum at 20. If you are already using APAP, you may need to increase the minimum pressure and the maximum pressure. (G...

Re: Need help on how to sleep on my back

Thanks for the response Julie. My left shoulder is destroyed with two rotator cuff tendons, and one bicep tendon detached and retracted. It hurts like the dickens now. After surgery I will be in an immobilizer sling that is bulky, finicky and must be protected at all costs for 6 to 8 weeks to let th...

Need help on how to sleep on my back

This board was a life saver to me 14 years ago when I first started my CPAP journey. Now I need to tap into the "hive mind" of CPAP advice again as I near 70. I fell two weeks ago and did substantial rotator cuff damage to my left shoulder. I will be seeing the surgeon in early May. I have become a ...

Re: Are leaks dangerous to your eyes?

cakimmer, Thanks for posting and sharing your professional experience! Everyone seems to have dry eyes, but I have watery eyes from waking until about 2pm in the afternoon! Been on CPAP since last February, and have gotten progressively more tears! I have used a comfortgel nasal and now use a Resmed...

Folks thanks much for the kind words and encouragement! Gregg, may you find the key to your recovery! Never stop searching, and don't give up. Don't ever give up trying to get back "in the groove." This has been a long journey for me... but it would be boring to detail it. Suffice it to say that it ...

Some encouragement for the new folks...

Some encouragement for the new folks... particularly us ol'guys (tm) I'm 55 insulin resistant diabetic and such, and have been on CPAP for about 4 months so far. I have made no other changes to my diet or activities. Got back from the Endocronologist today and my blood work has improved across the b...

Why wouldn't a magnet stick to stainless? It's still an iron alloy.. So called 400 series Stainless steels are magnetic, 300 series have more nickel in them and are typically nonmagnetic. I believe the plate on the bottom of my respironics humidifier is stainless not aluminum. I haven't checked it ...

I also have a full beard, and settled upon a nasal mask (nasal pillows for backup) with a chin strap. AHI below 1.

I believe Microsoft just announced that they will continue to service XP for 13 years since inception instead of their usual 10. Many companies, mine included, will not convert to Vista because of the problems that have been documented elsewhere. We will wait for the next OS release.

Well isn't this interesting... I'm diabetic also and my IOP has ranged from 18 to 20 for years. I have been on CPAP for 2 1/2 months and just had my yearly eye exam last week. The tech had "trouble" getting my IOP and didn't like the "high" readings, but she wouldn't tell me what they were. She reto...

A few words of encouragement. I have only been on CPAP for about 2 1/2 months. Haven't missed a night! First off, I identify with your reaction to the "clunky mask". I felt the same way also. The use of a ramp feature for initial pressure buildup will benefit you tremendously to acclimate. Also the ...

Moby, thanks much! I was on the road for a few days and missed your posts, excellent reading, and your description of "lack of endurance" fits me to a tee. I was driving back from Pennsylvania today with my daughter, and she kept encouraging me to "take it in small steps" Dad, but keep trying. Your ...
