I travelled with the Resmed S8 Elite for 5 weeks which included plenty of flying. Nothing seemed to bother it. It does have a good carrying case.

Do we really need to worry about glaucoma?

Hi, all: There was a recent post about a connection between glaucoma and sleep apnea. The poster noted, if I remember correctly, that his eye pressure had gone up now that he was on cpap treatment. What this seemed to imply was that the air pressure of cpap treatment had something to do with an incr...

In my experience (6 months), HI is always much higher than AI. However, any AHI over 5 makes me feel pretty bad and, on this forum, most people seem to feel that an AHI under 5 is desirable.

Are you breathing through your mouth perhaps? Are you sure your pressure is correct?

I know this sounds wierd but I take everything washable in the shower with me about every week-two weeks. I keep dish soap in the shower stall. It's much easier to wash a hose using water coming out of a shower head and letting it flow out onto the floor of the shower stall. When I get good suds, I ...

I think the real question is how different the two machines are. I have the S8 Elite and am very happy with it. It's quiet; I find the EPR function helps tremendously. I can find out what I need from the display. My impression is that the II has upgraded software with the USB port connection. Has th...

Re Canadian insurance. Each province administers its own health insurance plan. There have been a couple of cases here in Ontario where the province had to cough up to pay for treatment done in the US that patients couldn't get in Canada. Of course, they fought like hell not to pay. Another problem ...

Yeah, there's nothing like thinking or seeing how other people live to let us know how lucky we are. My husband and I spent 4 winters in the Dominican Republic and helped out with a mobile medical missionary. The things we saw! Kids with heads full of fungus, semi-starved babies, people old before t...

My sleep doc told me that more ment have apnea than women up until menopause when women's numbers reach those of men.

I'm pretty sure that mine started with menopause, too.

And then there's just that ole aging thing.

Not blatantly wrong at all--just getting accustomed to a new way of sleeping. And it takes time! Do you breathe through your mouth because of stuffiness or habit? For some of us, stuffiness has been alleviated by nasal rinses or sprays so that we can use nasal pillows or a nasal mask. Or some people...

Hi, gld you found this forum. I have the same machine and humidifier. The humidifer works automatically and how much warm air you get depends on the humidifier setting which is a dial numbered 0-5. Try different settings to see what works best for you. I second the motion on nasal rinse or spray. I ...

You can also use a vinegar-water solution for your hose as well as the humidifier. I make a 50-50 solution. I got this info based on some info about CPAP from the Canadian Lung Association.

Hi, I have an Opus 360 and, just to demonstrate how individual these choices are, I don't even feel the pillows in my nose. And I like the air coming in, particularly when its cool...so I have no humidification. The stiff sides of the Opus bothered me since I'm a side sleeper so I got some pad-a-che...

Hi, and welcome to the forum. I have the Resmed S8Elite for 6 months and it's worked very well for me. I also traipsed it from Canada to US to Egypt and back and had no problems anywhere. It has a built-in converter so all I needed was a different plug (this is likely true of other machines, I suspe...
