Going back to my Lightweight S6
I used the ResMed Lightweight S6 for 7 years until it was replaced with the S8 Elite. After one year I have still been unable to adjust to the noise and the poor performance of the S8. So now I am back to using my S6 every night and love it. I fall asleep within minutes. I now only use the S8 before...

Re: Drying out w/ humidifier
Problem solved. Found out I had thrush from a long round of a wicked antibiotic. That'll dry your mouth out. Sorry to post the topic for nothing. But the advice about the humidifier was good to remember. Cheers!

Re: Drying out w/ humidifier
Is there any information showing that the newer small integrated heated humidifiers deliver more/less comfortable humidity than the older larger separate ones? I have no proof, but it seems like my original Sullivan HumidAire provided more comfortable airflow than the integrated ResMed 3i. The small...

Re: PCP looked at ResScan data, had questions, then commended me
Same here. I've been taking reports in now for the past 2 years. Now the doc not only expects a report at every visit, but also wants reports faxed to him monthly. It used to be nearly impossible to get the software! Now I see it's easily available, though not cheap. The pulse oximeter, however was ...

mouth breather
I had no clue I was a mouth breather until after weeks of AHI readings of 30+, after 1 night with a FF mask, my AHI went to the single digits. The problem - I can't keep the mask on for more than a couple hours. I wake up and it's leaking in about 4 different places, try to adjust it in my half-awak...

Land of Liberty
I love the benefits of the Liberty. Best mask ever; good fit. But I have the same trouble with the nasal pillows. When I move around in my sleep, they become pinched or simply slide out. I have to sit up and fart around to get them back in. More often than not, I just give up, pull it off and go bac...

Your own still
You can buy machines online to make your own distilled water. But at $100 for the boiler, it makes sense to buy it bottled, especially generic. My original Sullivan ResMed Humidaire xPAP stainless steel humidifier reservoir looks like new because I never used tap water in it. Considering the price o...

Mask setting
From what I've gathered from reading posts on this subject, if the ResMed machine's mask setting is set to the full face (Mirage Full) setting, it disables the auto-on feature. I guess you gotta consider the source on this one.....ResMed. I think that's correct about Auto-start and the mask setting...

Wastes money, wears out machine?
In order for Auto-Start to work, my S8 Elite seems to be running at a very low rate, anticipating my breathing to turn on. To me, that seems like a total waste of energy and would wear out the machine prematurely. I can just as easily press the ON button rather than have it idle for 15 hours awaitin...

Mine defective?
After 3 weeks of frustration, I asked EchoStore for a replacement. It will arrive in a few days, so we shall see if it was me or if it really was defective.

The Black machine v. the White Machine
If there's any way you can try both (or others) our at your DME, that may be best. What I like most is not the machine but rather other issues: the ease of use of the integrated humidifier, the software, reliability, etc. They're both relatively quiet, but you may notice a significant difference. Yo...

CPAP & Insurance
Great questions, but I would suggest making a list of your questions and calling your insurance carrier or your HR person at work. We can all give advice, but it's your insurer who's going to make the decisions. I always ask my insurance carrier back up these types of questions in writing or show me...

ResScan
I got the reader and the 3.3 software. Didn't work at all. Then I went back and meticulously read the instructions (download the .pdf version of the Clinician's Manual on the CD), deleted everything I'd aleady done, did it again, inserted the card correctly in each place, and it works like a dream. ...

Cleaned cushion - now all cloudy
I carefully cleaned my ResMed Ultra Mirage nasal mask's cushion in a full dishpan with a tablespoon of Baby Shampoo added for some suds. After rinsing and air drying, the softest part of the cushion that creates the seal against the face is now all cloudy instead of clear. I used the Citrus II to tr...
