Re: Getting (re)Started
I'm getting used to it now. It's mostly sensory. I can go for a longer period without ripping it off. I turned down the humidifier on the second night (the warm air was part of the issue). I do struggle with the sensation of my exhalation getting caught in the mask, and eventually the sensation of n...

Re: Getting (re)Started
3 hours last night. A big part of it, I think, is purely sensory (the autistic thing).

Re: Getting (re)Started
Assuming "Ramp" = "Settling" - 10 mins EPR (no idea, couldn't find it in the wiki, forum search result says "minimum of 4 characters") Pressure: It's in APAP mode, so it ramped up to 7.6 cmH2O (according to ResScan) I did, however, just find that the mask setting was set to "Mirage Full", but I have...

Re: Getting (re)Started
Night 3, couldn't even get to sleep. Felt like I was suffocating and couldn't breathe properly.

Re: Getting (re)Started
It has not gone well for the first two nights. I'm ripping the mask off after about 2 hours each night. The mask is far more comfortable than the Mirage Quattro, but it's the sensory issue of being trapped inside the mask and having warm air forced into my face that seems to be the issue. It also fe...

Re: Getting (re)Started
You would need ResScan, a smart card and a special card reader (both of which are hard to find a pricey). We can get you ResScan easily but not the stuff to use the software. Guess who thought ahead when buying the S8 ;) The ResScan software would be helpful though, because I'm not sure where the C...

Re: Getting (re)Started
So, the appointment went well. Particularly as a final check of the cupboard revealed past-Warwick to have been lazy, and just left the humidifier tub in the cupboard, instead of putting it back in the bag. Thus: working humidifier. Sat down with the rep, who was surprised at the excellent condition...

Re: Getting (re)Started
OK, if I am looking at starting again from scratch ($deity help me)... when I bought this, Resmed was THE way to go.
Is that still the case, or are there better options now?
(Quieter? I don't want a divorce...)

Getting (re)Started
Hi there. So, it's been about... oh... ten years since I last logged in. Which means my Resmed S8 AutoSet Spirit II has been unused for about nine years. I got the flu, I couldn't manage to re-adjust, I put it away and... yeah. Anyway, tonight my new doctor said "You NEED to be using your APAP machi...

Turbinoplasty
Yeah, I understand. In my case, I've never been able to breathe properly through my nose (awake or asleep), and I think the turbinoplasty is to deal with that, as well as help with the sleep apnea. The ENT surgeon thinks my "golf-ball sized tonsils" are pretty much the major cause of my sleep apnea ...

Surgery.
Haven't posted for a few months. I've been surviving as best I can with a hired Resmed. Last week I purchased a brand new Autoset Spirit II with dehumidifier (same model as I was hiring). Got home to find two letters from the hospital notifiying me of my surgery dates for tonsillectomy & turbinoplas...

S8 ResMed
I've been on APAP for a week. I've got the ResMed S8 AutoSet Spirit II, with the Mirage Quattro full face mask, and I'm in love. Feeling better than I ever have. My wife can also recommend the S8, after living with my snoring and portable fans beside the bed for so long, this is a relief. She says t...

Best news I've had in months
I spoke to a xPAP company here in Melbourne this morning, after seeing my GP last night. GP is happy to write a prescription, just wanted to know what she needed to tell the xPAP supplier. They can supply me with an APAP machine just on a letter from the GP, as long as I've had an assessment. Since ...
