Re: Sleeping part of night without CPAP?

I don't take off my mask when I sleep ever, even if I nap or get up during the night.. My AHI is 87 and I've noticed I have more events towards early morning. I really wouldn't advise anyone to remove their mask. I spent probably too many years with undiagnosed sleep apnea - I don't want to damage m...

Gastroscopy, Surgery and OSA

Just got back from my gastroscopy today - I have a hiatal hernia that gotten larger (had for over 20 yrs due to pregnancy but recently it has been causing me a lot of trouble.) I told the GI previously I have very severe apnea & did not want to sleep. They gave me local anaesthetic spray (tasted ter...

Re: I May be Cured, Find Out How (True Story)

why exactly do you need tonsils and adenoids? Tonsils and adenoids are part of your lympathic system - they are supposed to prevent infection but in rare cases, can become infected themslves. People of my generation (born in the 1950s) routinely had their tonsils out as young children and sometimes...

Re: Aveo TSD - a different approach

Bonnie,

The fact that there have been no posts about this device for the past 4-5 years sets off my skeptic meter strongly. If it were very helpful for many people, wouldn't there be a lot more posts?

Re: What value does a DME provide?

Guys, it's not just the American medical system, we have DMEs in Canada too. Although our provincial health care plan pays for the sleep doctor & studies; to my knowledge here (Ontario) your insurance company (through employers or employee's spouse) pays for the machine, mask etc. (You can get some ...

Re: I May be Cured, Find Out How (True Story)

Wonderful for you.

I agree the throat should be checked (my sleep doctor does this every visit. However, I had my tonsils & adenoids out twice as a child (age 3 & 6 - they grew back) and I suspect I had sleep apnea for many years after.

Uninterruptible Power Supplies

Does anyone here have there machine attached to an interruptible power supply? (like the type that are used for computers). Blackouts and brownouts are very infrequent here (Toronto, Canada) but I'd like to be prepared. (I have a battery from cpap.com for travel. I've charged it, does anyone know ho...

Re: Weight Loss and Pressure Adjustment

Thank you for the message and your suggestion. As soon as I get the software producing a report, I'll check the AHI (with the old machine it was pretty good.) In answer to your question, I feel great (I've been on CPAP for about 3 1/2 years, I lost the first 10 lbs by getting treatment, the rest wit...

Weight Loss and Pressure Adjustment

Has anyone hear seen their pressure numbers change with a signficant weight loss? Over the last 1 1/2 yrs, I've lost 70 lbs (another 70 to go). My AHI is high, 87, so I've reconciled myself to the fact that I'll always need a CPAP. Besides, I think I may have had OSA for many, many years (my mom bel...

Help with the DeVilbis Smart Link software

I love my new-ish IntelliPAP but I'm finding this software VERY frustrating. Can someone help me? I have looked at both the quick start & help. I've put in my patient information, device info, linked them & downloaded my data. However I can't seem find me (done searches, I can see me listed but I ca...
