wading thru the muck - What I'm describing IS an ice passover type of system. I'm going to get icetrays today, and hope that it helps. If I had stuffy sinuses all the time, I'd try just putting an icepack on my nose for a few minutes, like you would if you got hit in the face with something. Maybe t...

Well, as I stated, I tried the humidifier on all different levels, and it never helped. And, yes, the heated humidity DID have an opposite effect on me.

Poison is determined more by dosage than substance. I would avoid tap water, simply because it might have corrosive effects on the parts of the humidifier. Its an expensive machine, and I would want it to last as long as possible. I have a chemistry degree, but I'm not going to just guess whether or...

stuffy nose with c-pap -- I've got an idea

I posted a thread a while back, some time late last summer, about how I was having trouble using my cpap, since my nose got stuffy at night. My nose doesn't get stuffy in the sinus cavity area, but in the nostril region. Throughout the winter, I was able to use the c-pap very well, but without the h...

finally fixed the problem

As a continuation of this thread http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?p=60186#60186 I just wanted to share that I found something that works. I got the full face mask, and it was very hard to get used to because it doesn't feel like there is as much pressure, and its larger. Also, humidity was some...

Lori, I thought I stopped breathing because I woke up and had to force myself to start breathing again. DSM - I don't know for a fact that my breathing slowed, but that's what it felt like. I just thought that maybe it slowed so much that things were allowed to relax, as if the CPap wasn't able to h...

Full-face vs Nose-only masks

I posted recently about my stuffy nose and the fact that my nose/nasal mask wasn't working without my use of Affrin. I bought a full face mask from respironics, and its great, but it seems like there isn't as much air pressure with it. Last night I woke up because I had stopped breathing (because th...

Saline rinse didn't work, vicks vapo-rub didn't work. I bought some breathe right strips that I'm going to try. I had a medium sized nose mask at first, but the top of it kept working loose and it would blow little streams of air in my eyes - and that would wake me up. Then I switched to a small siz...

Tomjax, you sound like you have a substantial background in science, is this true?

I'm a firm believer in the idea that there are NO 20 minute projects.

Wow, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem ( how many times has that phrase been said, ha ha ) Thanks to all of you for all the options. Last night I did try and turn down the humidifyer, but my C-Pap is kinda hard to program. I'll have to get the book out to make sure. I'll work on...

I read about "rainout" and I'm already getting that. Maybe my humidifier is up too high already or something. The nasal pillow looks like somthing that fits into the nostrils, maybe making it easier to breath through the nose? It seems like such a wierd problem: my nostrils seem to swell on the insi...

stuffy nose - can't use C-Pap

I got my CPAP machine in July and I used it for a month with no problems at all, but in August I started getting a stuffy nose at night and it made it very hard to keep using the CPAP. I bought some affrin, and that works, but I don't want to use that every night. Is there a better way to unstuff th...

I haven't had to deal with a cold (luckily) but I'm often stuffy when I go to bed. I use the swift interface and it actually unstuffs me. _________________ What is a "swift interface"? I'm new to the boards, btw, and I came here specifically because my nose stuffs up every single night now and I ca...
