Re: OT: Changes At The Doctor's Office
I have to agree with jweeks here, I wish all my info was available to all my doctors. We need a national medical records system, no implanted chip crap, maybe a thumb drive or smart card.

You can probably get a humidifier for your current machine. But first you have to identify it. I also use Ayr Gel and Saline Spray to help with dryness.

Once he is on active duty, Tricare does not cover him - If he is prescribed (ordered) a battery it should be billed to his supporting MTF.

Re: Sleep doctor appointment 2 days away!
Apria supplied my first equipment, My Doctors office fasxed them the orders on a tuesday, Wed afternoon I had my machine. I have had much better luck with smaller locally owned DME's, my current dme hires cpap users, they are motivated to help, and are much more friendly. Apria was not user friendly...

Re: Doctors Lying
This points out a serious lack of ethics in todays society. It is not just doctors, there are local car dealers that will install the wrong light bulb in cars so that they burn out quickly - They then charge about 25.00 to replace them - a tidy profit even if they can't find your original bulb to pu...

Re: Opinions about self treating sleep apnea please.
Often I see people advising to "Tighten" the setting for apap machines, but I have been on cpap 4.5 years, and have left my machines at 5-20 cm h20. My ahi is typically under 1 (2.5 is a bad night). We are all different, and the biggest problem I ever had was with the low starting pressure and some ...

Re: Dry nose, even with humidifier
You mentioned that it is cool where you live, is it cool enough to require your home heater to run at night? - I use an older system one machine and need a humidifier setting of three in the summer and four in the winter not not get dried out. What setting are you using?

Re: cpap volatages in USA
many of the machines actually operate on 12 or 24 volts DC, and the power supplies (external bricks) will accept voltage from 110 to 240 Volts and either 50 or 60 cycles. I would check with the manufacturer to be sure. You probably will neet an adapter to plug it in as US models come with a two blad...

Re: CPAP and nose pillows
the pillows should fit against the nose, not go inside it. The instructions say to use the smallest pillow that won't go inside the nose. They seal by inflating against the nose. You can cause a lot of discomfort if the straps are over tightened, but may not feel the soreness till the next day. Petr...

Re: picking a mask
I have never used any thing but nasal pillows. First the opti life mask, Now the new Go Life Mask, I have a beard, and some excess tissue under my chin caused the opti life's chin strap to move about, but it rarely lost it's seal. The Go Life has no chin strap, and I really like it. I can recommend ...

Re: Insurance Not Covering APAP Machines?
If you thing they are getting stuck if you make them swap the machine, you are wrong. Many people pay theses DME suppliers more for a machine through the co-pay on the 13 month rental than they would pay just to buy the equipment from the get go. If your insurance will reimburse you for the machine,...

Respironics GoLife Mask Pillows
If any one is using this mask, and is not using the large pillows, I would like to arrange a trade.
I need only the large pillows, will trade one P, S or M for one Large.
Thanks, Paul
