Self Titration w/ APAP Question

I was speaking with a friend of mine over the weekend who described symptoms similar to what I was experiencing pre-CPAP (exhaustion in the afternoons, falling asleep in meetings, etc.). I let him use my CPAP for a night. No apeneas were indicated, but several hyponeas. Since RedMed units like mine ...

It took several tries to come up with a sure-fire method of getting the ResScan software to detect the presence of the data card. Here's what works for my setup: 1) I unplug the reader from the USB port on my PC (assuming it is not already disconnected). 2) Insert the data card into the reader 3) Pl...

First month with CPAP

Last night marked the first month on CPAP therapy. All in all, I seem to have gotten used to looking like Dennis Hopper in the movie "Blue Velvet" while I sleep. I have the "one month checkup" with the DME next week. Based on the summary stats below, is there anything that I should ask them? The lea...

I've been using a UMFF mask for about a month and notice that at my set pressure (13), my mouth is almost forced to remain open, even though I start the night breathing through my nose. At the lower pressure of my ramp up (4), I can keep my mouth closed pretty naturally. Oddly enough, the "puffy che...

First week of data downloaded to ResScan

During my first week with the CPAP, I ordered the ResScan software and reader because I wanted to get a better understanding of the summary data provided by the LCD. The software arrived today and I wasted no time in getting it installed. Below is a detail report from last night. I'm still reading t...

Thanks to everyone for the helpful replies! Glad to know that the "adjustment period" is pretty much standard operating procedure. All I can do is stick it out until my next visit to the sleep specialist in a month's time.

Second Night With ResMed S8 Elite - Exhausted

I gave up after 2 hours with the Ultra Mirage Full-Face and a S8 Elite on the first night. Honestly can say that I woke up feeling a little better than usual. Last night I decided to tough the evening out; using the device for 6 hrs, 15 minutes. I woke up feeling like I haven't slept at all. My stat...

Slinky,

Thanks for the information! Makes sense. I wanted to eliminate as much leakage as possible, but I've probably ratcheted the mask down too tight. I will have my SO help me with it this weekend.

Thanks Again!

Mask Fit Test On ResMed S8 Elite

I just received my CPAP (a ResMed S8 Elite) with a full-face Ultra Mirage mask. Setting the machine up last night, I ran the mask fit test to make sure that I had a good seal. In order to get the test to register in a range of very good to excellent, I had to tighten the mask to a point at which the...
