Re: Recording data

I use an S8 Elite and my partner uses an S8 Autoset II. The S8 machines accumulate data internally, up to 180 days worth of summary data and the last 5 days (Elite) or 4 days (Autoset II) worth of detailed data. When the card is inserted, the screen will display "Card inserted" (or something like th...

Memory and attentional problems, even without overt sleepiness. Work product still of good quality but taking longer to perform.

I can attest that at least some people do take to CPAP right away (my BF slept thru his first night and began to feel better right away, lucky bastard; not so for me). That is not to say it has been completely problem-free (gastric insufflation being the worst of it, plus assorted hose management is...

Funny thing is - it doesn't have to be on tight to seal. I wonder if THAT was the problem.

I would try it again, loose as you can. The air expands it to seal. Let us know how you make out.

Then my RT told me that Activa doesn't work so well at pressures below 12. K8e, tell your RT that is a bald face lie! I have the same mask and using for over a year my pressures using APAP run from a low of 7 to a high of 10, sometimes up to 11 (rarely). The mask inflates and works well. By the way...

Activa great, but maybe not so good at low pressures.

I asked for, and received an Activa mask for my first mask based on so many positive comments about it, but it didn't work out for me. Besides the smallest size, Shallow, being too big for me, my pressure is too low for it to properly inflate (8 or 9). Therefore was having to put it on very tight an...

Thanks bigk When I talked to the saleman it sounded like he was throwing in the software but I needed a reader for the data card.... I have been researching the Autoset II for my BF, and according to the clinical brochure (see link below), the Autoset II (unlike previous models) has direct USB conn...

schleima, Another consideration is rent vs. purchase. Most insurance will pay for a purchase or for 10-12 months of rental, and after that, you own the machine, but they push rental, understandably, because of the low success rate with CPAP. There are some advantages to purchase vs renting: - All of...

schleima, FYI, my BF has the Resmed S8 Elite, the version right before yours (the S8 Elite II which just became available a few weeks ago) and it is a good machine even though it is not an Auto. The S8II series has some nice feature upgrades (improved comfort features, quieter motor, and finally, US...

Here is the link to the Blue Cross of CA (now Anthem Blue Cross) Clinical Utilization Management documents database page. It should give you the exact policy regarding what is considered medically necessary. http://www.anthem.com/wps/portal/ca/culdesac?name=onlinepolicies&content_path=provider/f1/s0...

Bisphenol A

How about the fact that these products continue to leach toxic chemicals long after we are "done" using them? All that disposed-of plastic doesn't just vanish by magic, it is still in our ecosystem, leaching out chemicals for hundreds, maybe thousands of years. And we keep making more of it every da...
