Re: Heated hose and allergies/cold

I don't use a heated hose, but I use a polyfleece hose cover, and it works like a charm. We keep our bedroom temperature set at 61F overnight, and I have had no rainout whatsoever. Before slipping on the polyfleece, I was experiencing some rainout even in the relatively warm nights of early Septembe...

Conjunctivitis

Oh, oh --I think an air leak has caused conjunctivitis in my left eye.

What do you usually do when you experience this problem?

Thanks!

Silicone vs Gel Seals

Jeff (jdschooler), The Activa sounds neat. At titration, my sleep tech was obviously of the-tighter-the-better school. One of the things I like best about the Phantom mask is the absence of a forehead support. I can wear glasses with it when I want to read a little or be sure I don't crash into thin...

One thing I wonder about, is the air tube comes directly in one side. It doesn't look like you can move it from side to side or even choose which side, and it looks like a very rigid connection. It would seem to restrict sleeping on the air tube side even more than the Swift does. Snork, Yes you ca...

Silicone vs Gel Seals

The night of my titration study, we had to try three different masks, to get one that didn't leak from the get-go. The one I finally slept with had a silicone seal that I found clammily uncomfortable. It also leaked down the cheeks every time I readjusted my head position or turned over (this, despi...

lindas88, I know nothing about that Australian heated hose. These are just sleeves that cover the tubing. Mine cost $15, plus S&H. As I recall, they had cheaper and more expensive ones. It was ordered at The CPAP Store on cpapman.com. (At the same time, I bought a pair of Respironics QuickClips--$3....

lindas, I still haven't used it, so I can't tell you how it works, but I bought a tubing insulator from cpapman.com. I bout a 6-foot, blue, Polarfleece model, but the website offers different coloras, materials, and lengths. So far, my Invacare Polaris EX does not produce much condensation, but on 3...

Taking an age poll

I notice a lot of comments about people feeling and acting youinger than their ages.

I've always said I worried about becoming senile before mature. At 68, I still worry.

guest,

Thanks for the good advice, but I've already bagged the trial and returned the APAP. I'm already used to my hardly-any-bells-and-whistles CPAP machine, and happy to stick with it.

Linda, you have sharp eyes!

LoRi, you're right, my twin is very pale. Concerned about getting enough vitamin D, he spent the whole summer working in the garden without sunscreen. As a result, though, our tomatoes and butternut squash are very colorful.

LoRi, I agree that oral masks for CPAP seem to be problematic. I've never tried one, but worried about dry mouth, scratchy throat, and the lip & jaw problems you encountered. I assume that anyone in this discussion group will do plenty of online research (thanks to Google, it's easy!) before buying ...

klady, Have a look at the SleepNet masks. All (I think) have gel interfaces and some way of changing the shape (bendable metal strip over the bridge, or an embedded wire) and are thus to some degree customizable. Gosh, I'm beginning to sound like a SleepNet flak, aren't I? I'm not; just a very satis...
