Complex sleep disordered breathing and OSA

Is there any difference between the diagnoses of Complex Sleep Disordered Breathing and regular Obstructive Sleep Apnea. If so could some one explain it to me.
Thanks

Breathe better at night now than day? What's up?

Finally, after about a year, I am completely comfortable using my CPAP. I love to take those long deep breathes when I first get into bed. I have no problems with the mask and can keep my mouth closed. However, I find that during the day, since air is not being FORCED into my lungs, I often have to ...

opti-life with Cradle Cushions

Thanks for the reply. I now use the Mirage Swift with nasal pillows and it's pretty successful. However, the straps seem to slip around easily. I liked the way the Opti-life fit around my head but the nasal pillows leaked.

Opti-life with Cradle Cushions

Has anyone used the new "cradle cushions" options on Respironics Opti-life mask? I like the way the Opti-life fits my head but the nasal PILLOWS never worked out. I thought maybe the cradle concept would be better. Thanks.

Cleaning Aussie hose

What's the best way to clean the Aussie hose. I seem to have misplaced the directions that came with the hose but i know that it can't be submerged in water. Thank you.

noisy Swift ll

When I switched from the Swift i to the II I experienced a lot of new whistling sounds. I brought this subject up a an AWAKE meeting. One of the DME's there told me that this was a known defect in the Swift II mask and that the manufacturers were aware of it. I called my DME (Apria) and told them ab...

dizziness

Thanks Julie. I had a ultrasound of my carotid arteries last year and they were all clear. I was thinking more along the lines of the air pressure blowing into the nose affecting the eustacean tubes.

inner ear problems, dizziness & CPAP use?

I've recently started experiencing a "thumping" in my inner ear ( not tinnitus - have had that for a long time). Also, recently when I get up from a prone postion I experience a moment of dizziness. In addition recently, when i awaken in the morning and am lying in bed, if I turn my head from one si...

sleep position

No,no, not the Sleep Number Bed. A true waste of a lot of money. Purchased it a couple of years ago. It turns out that my sleep # and my husbands are only 5 digits apart - so no need to ever change the setting. Also, even if you get the more expensive model it's just like sleeping on an air mattress...

stuffy nose

treesap - when my nasal passages are especially stuffy I will generally make more than one pass with the neti-pot on the stuffy side. That side will eventually open up.

Will turbinate reduction increase airflow?

Despite using a neti pot and a mild antihystamine mixture before bed my nasal passage don't remain open the entire night thus impeding the air flow and the effectiveness of CPAP therapy. A page on the American Rhinologic Society states "If your nose is congested on one side during part of the day an...

About Kaiser

The best guarantee of CPAP compliance is support. It's virtually non-existent at Kaiser Redwood City. There are 2 very supportive AWAKE (ALERT,WELL AND KEEPING ENERGETIC) support groups on the Peninsula for people who suffer from OSA and use CPAP. The first Wed. of every month the group meets at the...

About to call Kaiser

KAISER HAS A SLEEP LAB?????? Where are you located? Here in No. Cal ( San Mateo County) I was given a home sleep test by Kaiser. Afterward, i was directed to Apria. What a waste! The person at Apria, although well intentioned, had no idea what she was doing. Next I tried the Resiratory Dept at Kaise...

blood 02 levels?

Is it safe to ASSUME that if you've been relatively successful on CPAP therapy (who is ever perfectly successful?) then your blood O2 levels have risen correspondingly? My doc, a regular GP says Yes (Kaiser has no sleep docs in my area) When I was first tested my levels were 82 -not great.

Wait a minute. I thought that warm moist air would better keep nasal passages open while cold air would close them - after all heat expands and cold contracts.
