Hi Tansey! Welcome to the forum. Well it looks like I must be in the minority, but I think you need another sleep study, regardless of not having insurance. There are just too many medical reasons for other things that could be wrong, and I, for one, would not play around with this myself, but get t...

Gary, I don't know the answer to your original question. I do, however, feel for you for the constant nasal congestion! I have been severely addicted to Afrin several times. I have tried flonase and other prescription stuff to no avail. The ONLY thing that works for me is Breathe Right strips. I do ...

Hi everyone! I just got my new Swift LT a couple of days ago. I put it on to try right away and it seemed perfect. I love the fact that the exhaust is not hitting me on my arm any more, and that is will be easier to sleep on my side now, which is most of the time. I actually could even with the Swif...

Sorry to hear your husband is having difficulty. I think it is not unusual at all to not have any stage 3 or 4 or REM sleep during a study. The environment is totally unnatural (duh!), and completely different to what we are used to sleeping. I've had 5 sleep studies and think I only hit REM in one,...

Hi. I forgot to mention that MIP's stands for maximal inspiratory pressure and MEP stands for maximal expiratory pressure. They aren't usually done as part of ordinary pulmonary function testing but I bet that National Jewish did.

Good luck,
Margaret

Ok, forgive me if this is a stupid question, but have you been using the same Swift for 3 years? Have you been getting new pillows every 3 months or so or are they the original? I think they do wear out eventually. What kind of stuff have you been using to clean your Swift? I doubt that your nares a...

ME TOO!

Dllfo, I am unable to trigger my portable concentrator on pulse flow about 75% of the time. It is a pain because the battery lasts a shorter time period on continuous flow. I have some sort of neuromuscular thing where my phrenic nerve is damaged bilaterally. (it took 5 years to diagnose). The first...

Mathew, I don't think anyone has mentioned sleep debt yet. It takes a looooong time to get over your sleep debt, especially with an AHI as high as you had. A month is not very long at all. You are trying to do everything that you need to do, so give yourself a pat on the back. The meds may be causin...

I have only traveled once by plane with my bipap. I did find it hard to carry that, plus my purse, plus my tote bag with all my meds, and then wheel my portable oxygen concentrator. I went out and bought a wheeled backpack from High Sierra at Macys, AT405-210. It was on sale for $140, not cheap, but...

No bed

Well this may be slightly off topic, but I must vent! I ordered a new mattress and beautiful sleigh bed from Macy's. I was hoping I would wake up less with a better mattress. They were supposed to deliver today between 5 and 7 pm. I gave my mattress and box springs to my nephew for his guest room i...

I find the Swift 2 pretty comfortable. Sometimes the straps ride up in the back so I did find a sort of solution. I am kinda lazy and not likely to try customizing my mask. I AM addicted to my sleep mask, though, after living in a rented condo with absolutely tons of light shining in every morning. ...

Hi Kathy, Edema does not always stem from cardiac or kidney issues. Venous insufficiency is a very common cause of edema, especially if it gets better overnight and worse the more you are on your feet. It just means that the veins in your legs do not drain as well as they should. Sometimes the skin ...

Thanks to everyone! And NO, thank God, I did not look like that picture.......what a stitch! I spent a loooong time today reading posts about all the mouth taping and denture stuff. Just bought some Polident strips that I hope are the right thing, as I only saw the one type as everything else was cr...

Tried taping my mouth, and learned something!!!!

Ok, so I have read on here where many tape their mouths to avoid mouth breathing. I have been waking up more times than I think I should, so last night I decided to try taping and see if I felt less tired!! The only problem was that I didn't check and see what tape people were using, and gave NO tho...

Hi Slinky! Thanks for your response. I mean the BOTTOM *fill* line when I say the water level goes down every night! It goes from just below the top *fill* line to just above the bottom line. So the humidifier is definitely working! The DME was a sub for the regular RT, and he was really nervous, so...
