Re: Do I need a new sleep study?

Hey all, just a follow up and a "Thank you!". I got my GP to send CPAP.com a prescription, and got the new machine ordered before 4PM. It was at my house the next day! Sleeping better already, and my wife is getting better sleep too. Hooray! What machine did you get? Did you remember your old...

Do I need a new sleep study?

My last one was about five years ago, and things haven't really changed. My CPAP died, but we've moved halfway across the country. Is there any issue with getting my old prescription from the previous doctor and getting another CPAP? Do I even really need a prescription?

How long do machines last?

I've had my Respironics REMaster Plus M series for a while How long do they last? If you're nowhere near the prescribing doctor, do you have to get the sleep study done over?

Thanks!

Machine maintenance?

I've had my machine running for a few years now. Except for the critters chewing on cords or tubes, it's been great. How long do the machines last, and is their a "maintenance" that needs to be done on them to clean out stuff and replace worn parts?

Thanks!

Re: What needs to be done every so often?

The mask is just a nasal plug thing. I'll have to go find an image of it and get another one. I do clean the rear dust filter out of the Remstar Plus. Are there any others? Every couple of weeks I clean the hose and rinse it with diluted vinegar. I'll have to see what's available locally, fitting wi...

What needs to be done every so often?

I've changed insurance compaines and need to get a new mask. Puppy chewed the old one. Since I've had the machine a couple years, is there anything else I need to consider replacing or getting serviced?

Thanks!

Puppy chewed head gear

and local vendor wants $80 for the replacement. I'm out of a job and have no insurance, so I get the pleasure of footing the bill myself. I have a Respironics nose-plug set up, any good places to look for lower cost replacements?

Just talked to the Dr's office. On the machine I need a setting of 9, not sure what that means. They are calling the company that works with my insurance and I should get contacted within a week. All the things you all suggested were on the list.

Thanks!

Answers to some questions. I'm in the US, and the sleep study included the sleep tech changing some of the settings during the night.

I'll go read some wisdom in a bit.

newbie with questions..

Or a questionable newbie... Did my sleep study, don't have the numbers yet but as the sleep tech did say I met the criteria for needing a cpap during the night I'm making an assumption. The issue is that my current insurance runs out shortly and I have to start paying for different insurance soon an...
