Re: sneezing the next day
Dryness in your sinuses and you are rendered ultra-sensitive to pollen/hayfever? When camping without my humidifier it has happened to me too - and antihistmes, allergy pills, nasal spray, etc.,. don't provide a complete cure for the annoying persistent streaming nose. I don't know why dry CPAP air ...

Another ResMed Mirage Swift II Pillow Swap
Got all three sizes with my mask - only used/need the large. Now that I've seen the outrageous cost of purchasing/shipping a replacement pillow for such an itty bitty bit of molded plastic ... If you have an unused large to swap - I'll send you a small or medium in return. Small complication I'm in ...

Without getting too spiritual or creepy I would also take a hard look at yourself and consider what might best help you on the path to good health and contentment - either with or without CPAP. "Hate" may just be an inexact choice of words meaning something more like disappointment. CPAP is an inani...

Re: quitting, and responses
[quote="lifeartist59"] And I will post to all of you this question, Is it better to lose hours of sleep trying to be compliant or take off the mask and sleep, abiet with the apnea?

Hi Favabean ... you have come to the right place for advice. Use the search feature to chase down your specific issues and questions, and be sure to read through the yellow lightbulb collective wisdom. I'm only five weeks in and have had fantastic advice around here on leaking/mouth-breathing/taping...

I agree this forum has been a real lift and just a conucopia of practical advice for me. Most recent challenge - something others have posted about elsewhere - sudden powerful allergy-like symptoms that left me weepy eyed, sneezing and with a running nose that wouldn't stop dripping. I was going nut...

I'm only a month into CPAP and probably haven't been perfectly titrated (through an APAP trial), but I have used nasal pillows (Swift Mirage II), and I have mouth taped to help stop mouth breathing. I am having trouble getting my HI number down below 15 - my AI is in the 4 range most nights. Your po...

Right on advice from. You aren't whining. It isn't easy for lots of people. I hate it too. I am three weeks in as a newbie, in abject misery - yesterday a new low, spontanious tears at work. It is the dead-empty tank exhaustion caused by unfamiliarity with the mask, hose and air waking me, or some k...

Pricing Differentials Now Ridiculous
The Canadian DME's must be feeling the pinch. I'm on a DME loaner program to get started - overseen by the sleep lab. I think the dynamic here in Canada is a little differnt because the medical side is fully paid by medicare, so there is less financial logrolling between sleep clinics and providers....

Oh I may have a little SAD too - a few years ago I bought a lightbox and it seemed to help a little. But the main help may have been the feeling I was doing something constructive - some kind of placebo, self-determination effect. Apnea was my secret nemesis. Light therapy was in the pile of failed ...

Been there too grumpygirl
I know that despondency so well. I was at the end of my rope after years sliding downhill with no diagnosis. Sounds like we had a similar experience. Having to fight for a sleep test, being worn down to the end of endurance. When I complained to the doc about all the symptoms, about every day being ...

Hang in there grumpygirl
We have a big accumulation of exhaustion ... and adjusting to sleeping with the infernal contraption. I'm stupid, sloppy, my ears are ringing and I'm cross-eyed ... all from being so tired, but feel a little better physically then before the CPAP. Just to sleep through the night will be a big milest...

Thanks I'll try and access the clinicians menu tomorrow and see what numbers come up ... of course the DME pocketed the instructions for the machine but I googled the model number and somebody has kindly posted the control instructions for the S8 online. The doc told me my AHI number from my PSG was...
