Where to buy a CPAP machine
I am considering buying a ResMed S9 AutoSet machine and mask. I was wandering if anyone had any experiance buying from 1800CPAP.com? They seem to be cheaper than CPAP.com.

Re: Mask Life Poll
I am using a Respironics Profile Lite Nasal mask and I had to replace it after a year. Nothing wrong with the headgear but the gel cushion lost its sealing capability. Wonder what other users of this mask have experienced?

Re: Adjust your own pressure?
As you can see on lot of posts on this forum many people are setting their own pressures. This being said, in order to find the optimal pressure you would need a software and a data capable machine. Since you hsaven't mentioned your machine brand and model but only that its 12 years old I don't thin...

Re: changing pressure settings
Here are the definitions as defined in my machine's user manual: APNEA = A decrease in airflow of 75% or higher for 10 seconds or greater. HYPOPNEA =>50% to 75% decrease in airflow for 10 seconds or greater . APNEA/HYPOPNEA INDEX (AHI) = apnea plus (+) HYPOPNEA/hour of sleep. AHI Scale =<5 events /h...

Re: changing pressure settings
What are your AHI, AI and HI numbers? It looks like you are already at a relatively high pressure. In some cases too high pressure can cause you mouth leaks as well.

Re: where to buy a resmed serial adapter ?
After doing a quick search on the net it looks like you can hardly buy the serial cable in the US. Found one source for about 90$. It can be obtained in Australia but as I have said before I believe the USB adapter or the card reader would be a better option and probably cheaper. Regarding on-line m...

Re: where to buy a resmed serial adapter ?
If you are talking about the customized adapter that has one end connected to the machine and the other has a serial connector, I would try your DME or ResMed site. I got mine from my DME. If you are talking about a serial to USB adapter you can buy it at any computer store as Gerryk suggested or fo...

Re: What to do when going to the bathroom?
I always turn off the machine, disconnect the hose and leave mask on. Upon return, I connect the hose to mask and wait for the machine to start pumping air automatically.

Re: ResScan loaner?
Wulfman,
I fully agree with your comments. However, I have bought a new laptop with Vista loaded on it and didn't want to format the hard drive and install the XP which of course can be an option. Any way, I am up and running with the ResScan 3.7.
Thanks,
DR

Re: ResScan loaner?
I would also be glad to receive the installation application for ResScan 3.7. I have the USB cable and used AutoScan 5.7 but since I switched to Windows Vista I can't use it anymore.
Thanks,
DR

Just a short update. I have switched again to the Respirinics Profile Lite Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear. I have it for a week and it seems that I have got used to it much better than the two previous ones. Hope this will be my choice for a while. Thanks to all for your great inputs. Happy Holidays.
