Re: Plane travel questions!
I've flown with mine several times and have carried water sufficient for a 4-night stay in a rather hard-sided plastic bottle that I pack with the PAP machine. They have insisted on testing the water with a test strip, which I am good with as long as I can continue to carry it. Most of the time ther...

Re: How do I sell my ResMed S9 Autoset with humidifier?
I too am interested. Shopping right now for a S9 autoset. Looking to on-line wholesalers, but a gently used machine would be good! Best Price online is around $900. Would have to beat that or I'll just get new.

Re: Air travel
I've flown with mine multiple times within the USA, and have had it inspected a number of times, rejected none. I also pack water and cleaning soap in the kit with the CPAP machine. Becasue the water is larger than the allowed 1 oz (it is a 16 oz water bottle that I've marked with label tape "CPAP -...

Re: Solved now! Encore Pro - Unable to connect to server
I'm reading this series of posts because I'm having similar issues connecting to the SQL server. I'm running XP PRO sp3 w/Encore Pro. Somehow, the server it is looking for or trying to connect with is not available, and it will not let me change anything to look for a different server, etc. Is this ...

Re: Sleep Center thieves
Of course there are kickbacks... I work in the campus and facilities servide area, and we are required to use certain vendors because of the kickbacks. That is part and parcel of corporate America. Everyone is making money off of everyone else's piece of paper or number on a spread sheet. The truth ...

I'm experiencing the same thing using a full-face mask and room humidifier. Try drinking more water during the day -- most people don't get enough -- I know I don't. Otherwise, the only option is to crank up the humidifier more. A question about humidifier settings... By turning up the level, does t...

Re: Sleep Center thieves
I've divorced my sleep doctor for just these reasons. The co-pay is typically the price of equipment I can buy on my own, so I'm managing my own sleep care under the guidance of my general practioner who charges me a $20 co-pay for office visits.

Re: 2nd week cpap use
There are a lot of people that have issues with mask placement. Some folks move around more than they think while they sleep. I know, I always kid my wife. She is a very quiet person -- until she drifts off -- then the kung fu fight begins! Most folks have tried several things (which I've gathered b...

Re: A few more questions from a newbie
One solution for cleaning/drying the hose that I've been thinking of is a cable gun cleaning tool with a 20 gauge shotgun mop. You can usually find those sort of kits at any local sporting goods store. A cheaper alternative is to simply tie a piece of cloth to a string, weight one end and pass it th...

Re: New CPAP TRAVEL Products Trial - Call for Participants
Reading this thread with interest, as I'm flying Monday. I wondered if I could pass a 16 ox bottle of distilled water through, but I guess not. What if I were willing to drink from it? Distilled water obviously won't kill you -- just doesn't taste so good without the elements. Otherwise, it means hi...

Re: Are PapPillows worth the money?
My wife helped to make a pillow for me. We started with a generic memory foam pillow from one of the "marts". Both sides were cut out (electric knife cuts foam like a pro) with reliefs that allow the mask to dangle over the edge of the pillow during sleep. Additionally, the pillow was raised to the ...

Re: One Year Into Therapy - My First Year's Results
I'm also into my second year now, with similar results. My AHI is down to .9 -- 1.4 on average. I don't have the software yet, so I can't track detailed incidents, but I'm sleeping deeper and dreaming more. Not having any problems falling asleep when it is time -- IF I can get to it being time. I ju...

I've just used velcro cable ties to hook it to the bed post, but we have tall bed posts. I do like to keep it elevated between the machine and my face though. <singing>"Can't stop the rain..."</singing>

Re: My 90 day CPAP report
Find a purpose-made pillow for side sleeping (or make one like I did). Works wonders. I've also noticed some diminishing returns from early gains, but I've stuck with it faithfully now for a year, and I expect that going off the machine would only maky this aging body WORSE. I find myself now fallin...
