Fascinating that this subject should come up. This particular situation is how I came to be diagnosed with OSA. I went in for surgery in April, apparently had some episodes of my oxgyen saturations going down and "breathing episodes" in the recovery room. I was also heavy medicated with Morphine whi...

Hi George, I thought I should clarify on my post that my doctor seemed to NOT be too awfully concerned about the health risks more than the fact that using the cpap may help my fatigue - basically like your doctor. I understand where you are coming from in that you are not getting much sleep with th...

Hi George, I started to reply to you last night and ended up getting booted offline. So, now I'm going to try again. I had to check the name on this post, as your case sounds so much like my own. I had an AHI of 6, but a RDI of 18. My events are mostly respiratory related arousals and hypopneas. My ...

Hi Gailzee, I suffer from migraines, have for many years, before I was ever diagnosed with sleep apnea. I understand that migraines can be due to sleep apnea and be relieved with cpap. I have only been on my apap for about 7 or 8 weeks now and am not completely sure of an effect yet. I may not be aw...

I am so glad I found this thread before I started another one just like it. I was wondering the same question about the AHI vs RDI. During my sleep study my AHI was 6 and were mostly respiratory effort related hypopneas, my RDI was 18. My SP02 was 95% except for a total of 2 min. during the entire n...

DD, Thank you for the great explanation. You have a gift for explaining what can be complicated stuff in a very easy to understand way. I can't believe how much I have learned since hanging around here!!

Is it normal to feel more tired when you are getting more REM with treatment? Last month when I was using the Breeze nasal pillows, the days after I used CPAP I was more tired than the nights that I didn't when I was giving my nose a rest. Now I am using the Breeze but with the nasal mask. I have us...

Thanks for the great information! I realize that a lot of this is not black or white in nature, but it's nice to have some kind of guideline to go by when trying to interpret results. FF, you're welcome for the question

Normal Amount of REM?

Can anyone tell me what the "normal" percentage of REM when evaluating sleep study results? My study showed that over the entire night I had 12% REM which was decreased. Just wondering how decreased that is from average. Thanks!

Wow! What a difference between a nasal mask and the pillows. I only remember waking one time last night and had no real problems with leakage from the mask. I think I can live with this much easier then having raw nostrils most of the time!! I felt alert this morning, albeit refreshed is not the wor...

Staying with Breeze, trying nasal mask

Hello everyone, Well, I tried toughing it out with those nasal pillows but ended up having to take breaks about every 3 days due to my nares either hurting too much or sores/redness in my nose. My 20 yr old daughter asked me if any of my friends were wondering if I did cocaine. I said "what!" She sa...

Back from Dr. Office

Well, I'm home from seeing the sleep tech. She had me try on some different size nasal pillows. I had size large before, now I have medium in one nostril, small in the other. Sooooo...let's see how tonight goes. I appreciate all of the great information. Sleepless, that really long thread was just d...

Pressure Sores form nasal pillows

Hello everyone, I am new to the site, sleep apnea and cpap. I was recently diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea (ahi of 16 mainly during REM) Doc gave me several options, we decided to do a 30 day trial of apap to see how I felt. I really have not felt much improvement. And now I have developed press...
