Sounds like I got off lucky. My Ortho-Surgeon prescribed Ambien after rotator cuff and basal joint surgeries to both sides a few months back. I took it once and it didn't help the insomnia so I just quit using it. I'm hoping the CPAP works out. So far it's keeping me awake longer than when I didn't ...

Cold question
Hello All! I live in Juneau Alaska, in the midst of the world's second largest rain forest, the Tongass. Humidity here is 100 % nearly all the time. 170 to 200 inches of rain per year. One of the most damp, moldy places on earth yet, this is the only climate I can breathe in. Fortunately it's Southe...

I agree with you R&R, avoidable diabetes and high blood pressure... I wish I knew I could avoid those afflictions 33 years ago when I was told I had hypertension. I wasn't overweight then and was told I didn't need medication to control it due to my age at the time. So, on a Physician's advice, I mi...

Yup, add me to the list also. I take 2000 mg Glucophage, 8mg Avandia, 4 mg Amaryl, 240mg Diovan, 100 mg Atenolol, 25 mg HCTZ...

Suffocating
Hi, I too am a fairly new cpap user, (2 weeks ago). I initially had a hard time getting used to the nose mask, or whatever the thing is called. But then One night last week I fell asleep with it on and slept almost 7 hours. I haven't slept more than 2 to 4 hours per night since November 1973! I've s...

New here w / cpap question
Hello Captain; I too am new to this stuff. I received a diagnosis of OSA a few weeks ago and was prescribed CPAP last friday. I was set up with a Remstar pro with c-flex and a heated humidifier. I have to admit that after the first two days struggling with it, I finally set in to letting it work for...

New to the game
After the PSG etc... I received a call from the sleep center to tell me they have a prescription for a cpap machine and to come in for instructions. I got it yesterday, (Friday). It's a Remstar pro w/c-flex and a heated humidifier. It is set to ramp from 4 to 13. However, after I spent all day setti...

guess I better get used to it.
Well, Thank you all for the encouragement. I guess I did sound a bit cynical with that post. 30 plus years of two to four hours sleep a night makes me a little cranky too.
My wife makes me sleep in the kid's airplane bed cause i snore too much so I might as well look like a jet jocky!

just don't see cpap as viable
Just finished a sleep study that took two nights to complete. The recommendation is a cpap machine. Sounds pretty fishy to me. First, The cpap titration kept me awake all night anyway. It is cumbersome and is physically impossible to get used to nor can i stand the stench of the mask. It smelled lik...
