Re: Using CPAP At An Altitude of 12,500'
My top altitude with CPAP has been just over 11,000 feet on multiple occasions. My old Resperonics, was built like a tank and weighed as much. However it performed far better than my newer model (see signature). Not sure why nor can I find what they are rated for. I can tell you I slept much better ...

Re: CPAP Metrics - Vibratory Snore
Wow, I never considered the hose. I have seen some hoses to be more flimsy than others. The different DMEs just bring in different ones, as they are not specified by the Doctor. Just figured the more flexible ones would not last as long, never figured on they would have any impact on the machine. I ...

Re: UPDATE - Appt with Sleep Neuro
I feel for you, as this was my situation 15 years ago. Sleep disorders did not have the focus, and widespread acceptance they have today, to say nothing of the leap forward in CPAP and medications. My primary and even my family questioned me. I am sure they though I would snap out of it, or stop bei...

Re: Just had another Sleep test last night
In today's fast paced world anything beyond a few days is hard to understand. Most of the data will in any case be computer generated. I have had 9 sleep studies so far, never had to wait more than a week. I also make friends with the tech, who then I casually ask in the morning. After sitting and s...

Re: CPAP Metrics - Vibratory Snore
The Doctor had the same feeling, the other numbers are good. Vibratory Snore is a metric that is not consider medical but something the the CPAP machines have been doing. Thus no big worries. Try new mask etc. see what happens. I would just feel better to make sure all my numbers are low. My wife di...

Re: CPAP Metrics - Vibratory Snore
Great set of questions: - My wife hates the CPAP, so we now, unfortunately have different rooms. - The Vibratory Snore Index does vary, in the 4 months it has been been below 80 and as high as 627, for average of 243. I checked some of my other numbers such as RERA or AHI also go up and down, but in...

Re: UPDATE - Appt with Sleep Neuro
Long story. It took me 6 months to figure out how to deal with Provigal, and since I was first in my Doctors office they were not of much help. Start with low dose 50mg (although I was prescribed for 200mg), this will greatly weaken side effects. The side effects go away after using consistently (an...

Re: CPAP Metrics - Vibratory Snore
Could be? But would not some other number be reflected? I use a chinstrap, denture cream to seal my lips and other custom strap over my mouth. I am by nature a mouth breather and the full face masks leaked too much for me. Thus my home made solution, which totally prevents leakage around the mouth. ...

Re: UPDATE - Appt with Sleep Neuro
I am a long term Provigal user (6 years). Let me share some of my findings. Your body needs to adjust to Provigal, that will take some time before you overcome some feelings of anxiety, nervousness, nausea (those are I side effects I experienced). I would recommend you start with a low dose (get a p...

CPAP Metrics - Vibratory Snore
I am a long time CPAP user, and just visited my sleep doctor, and we reviewed my results off my CPAP via the Encore Pro 2 software. I was puzzled by the vibratory snore index moving from from 2.3 to now 243. My Doctor states he does not look at that an the critical metrics such as AHI are well in no...

Re: Encore Pro 2 Install Difficulties
Not sure I see the issue, as plenty of 32 bit software runs fine on 64 bit OS, for example the Microsoft Office Suite.
Can anyone shine a light on this?

Encore Pro 2 Install Difficulties
Since it is snowing hard, I thought I would use my free time to resolve the issue with my install of the Encore 2 Pro. First off I needed 2 Pro because I have a Respironics PR System One, which only works with this version of the software. My Doctor and DME are very supportive of me having the softw...

Re: Respironics System One Humidifier
Well, i do like the integrated CPAP and humidifer - less space, one less electrical cord, very compact. I do not like the quality issues. As far as care goes for the equipment, I have 2 whole house heavy duty surge protectors (long story), and we have not had an electrical disturbance since I got th...

Re: Handling Doctor and DME
Keep at it, CPAP treatement is vital to those of with Sleep Apnea. A good Doctor and DME are required to get it under controll. I too was frustrated in locating the DME, and challenged my Doctor. He gave me a list, and told me which he thought were good, but he would be willing to work with any DME....

Re: Respironics System One Humidifier
My DME states, Respironics makes good equipment in general. This is a relatively new machine, and sometimes they just don't have everything worked out. If it fails again, we will get you a new one, and we keep following up with Respironics since we don't want the failure of these machines as well. B...
