Free Respironics BiPap synchrony & Sullivan humidaire
Hi A friend (of a friend) recently got a new machine so volunteered to give this one away. These units work perfectly but I think the bipap has ~ 17000 hours. I'm not sure of the average life span of these units, but happy to give these to some nice person for their personal use. The caveat is they ...

why is resmed Adapt S9 forcing breaths??
Hi I'd been using a respironics auto SV to treat complex apnea for last 4.5 years and I recently got a resmed SV adapt s9. My (new) sleep DR used settings of 3, 9, & 10. I'm trying to determine why it feels like the machine is forcing me to take continuous deep breaths immediately after I exhale. It...

best machine for someone who used to have complex SA
Hi After being diagnosed with complex apnea in 2007 & using a respironocs auto sv for 4.5 years, the machine died last month. Based on my experience being off the hose for a couple weeks & the results of a sleep test done 8/11 showing I no longer have central apnea (or a medical need for XPAP), I'm ...

advice on choosing new SV machine for centrals
Hi, Ive used a respironics auto SV for 4.5 years and the circuit board recently fried. I'm now waiting to meet with DME to choose a new machine (and hopefully have it covered by insurance BCBS). My machine was one of the1st SV models for central apnea and i understand things have changed a lot since...

respironics SV - alarm E63 Internal watchdog failure
Hi Woke up this morning with mask off & (5 yr old) auto SV displaying alarm code E63. I checked manual and discovered code means "Internal watchdog failure" but it doesn't offer any explanation. It sounds serious and I assume it means time to replace the machine or send this somewhere for repair. Ei...

Re: where to donate masks, accessories?
Hi Queen I'm actually registered but forgot to sign in. I was a frequent reader here when first diagnosed with central SA a few years ago & got lots of helpful info from more experienced XPAP patients. My treatment is going so well I haven't checked in for quite a while. I'd be happy to send you the...

Re: Swift FX pillow quality question
Thanks Linda. I'm not on medicare but discovered care first will cover new pillows every month. My DME rep was adament the rule was 6 months but the regional manager happened to be on location yesterday & verified the 30 day guideline. Very happy.

Re: hoses
I like my hose facing upward too but never felt comfortable with a mask hose clipped to my forehead. You can certainly try that but not all masks offer that option. You could also try routing the hose along a bed post or getting some kind of hose management system that keeps it suspended upwards. Ha...

Re: Swift FX pillow quality question
Thanks - I'm sorry the FX pillows aren't lasting a long time for everyone but glad to know it's not just me. Now the real dilema - per my insurance I qualify for a new mask. Do I get another FX knowing the pillow won't last, get another opus that will last but I don't like quite as much or try a dif...

Re: Sleep Quality - Is this Normal?
Hi Lipappy, Congrats on what sounds like sucessful treatment and better sleep! Unfortunately I can't offer any techincal explanation but ~ 3 years into my successful XPAP treatment, I remember having some of the same experiences you're having during my first few months. The feeling of sleeping for l...
