Lower extremity edema can have many and varied causes, some quite serious - best to work with Doc to determine what's happening.

machine vs. manometer

Just an FYI My Remstar Plus (Basic) machine was set by resp. therapist at 15 cm. Out of curiosity, I got the H20 column manometer from cpap.com to test the pressure setting. Manometer reading was 16.5 cm(!) I called cpap.com to verify that I was using the manometer correctly, ( I was) and was told t...

air

FWIW-
I'm wondering if some of us learn to swallow "differently" when under cpap pressue and asleep and the learned behavior stays with one even when not under pressure and asleep. Maybe the "different swallowing" results in swallowing more air than when awake????
Just guessing -

FWIW I have that mask and others. After I soak, wash, and rinse them (early in the day) I give them a good shake to get rid of as much water as possible, then place them where they are bathed in the dehumidified air from the A/C. Works fine for me. When the weathercools and the heat is on, the lower...

Re:"real" warranties

Things may have changed over the past year or two but- FWIW, the last time I read the (to me) very deceptive Tempur-pedic brochure, the fine print explained that the full warranty on the foam was only 5 years and then pro-rated. I did some more checking and if memoy serves (?) most others foams are ...

I have CIGNA They paid $1,046 for what I could have paid $559 at cpap.com. I complained to them that they wasted about $500 of my limited (there is a max overall benefit) coverage which I may need in the future. CIGNA said 'tough'. "Can't help you'. !!!!! I have a friend who is fond of saying "when ...

skinny - I have Resmed Ultra Mirage II which is very similar to yours in that it has that cover with the "click" on it. The first 2 nites there was a LOT of air and noise coming out of that area. On the third nite, I found out by mistake that it takes as good amount of pressure to seat that curved p...

If someone wanting a recommendation for a good "sleep doc" would post his/her general location, perhaps that would encourage others in his/her area to make rec's (even by PM).
Someone did it for me and I will be forever grateful. And now I drive over 40 miles one-way to see that doc.

HS - if you post your general location, perhaps someone would mention (in a PM?) the name of a competent sleep doc in your area. Someone did for me and saved me from drowning in a sea of indifference and incompetence. (that's what it felt like for the 10 weeks before I even got a machine). This boar...

CIGNA

BP I have CIGNA - but PLEASE don't take anything I say as being set in concrete - it's just MY experience - your mileage may vary. CIGNA puts ALL requests thru a Co. called Gentiva for approvals on CPAP machines. Bare bones machine with heated humidifier. Sent me a "Rem Star Plus (Domestic)" CPAP ma...
