Re: Can they take my CPAP MACHINE AWAY???

Thanks for your reply. I don't know what the doc meant. Maybe there was a leak in the hose since my DME sent me the hose for the S9 when I had the S8. I just got the S9 and used it successfully for 2 days. Nice machine! Now I have to learn how to look at the numbers. Doc set the pressure 5-8 which ...

Re: Looking For Nationwide DME Names or Rochester Area....

2Tim, I used to live in the Rochester, NY area. Both husband and I highly recommend CPAP Xpress. They seem to have good RT's... at least our experience with them 3 years ago was very good. Both of us got our machines and were fitted and set up by them. CPAP Xpress a web site. Goggle should give you...

Re: Cervical spine issues and Apnea

Thanks Allen, Actually - I have two appointments scheduled, one is the referral that my family doc made for me with an orthopedic spine specialist and one with the neurosurgeon that did my wife's L5-S1 surgery. I am ready to go to surgery tomorrow as it is getting worse each day. I have been throug...

Re: Cervical spine issues and Apnea

MRI's are just like sleep studies, did you get a dictated report of it? From what I can see, c4-c6 looks pretty bad. Fusion surgery will more than likely be in your future. I'm not going to sugar coat it as it may or may not take care of your problems. I would bring up the lump in your throat feelin...

Re: Recent scam artist - buyer beware

I'm sorry for the people that were scammed by this person....... I was hit once a LONG time ago and have learned to live by the rule "If it is too good to be true......" You will want to get in touch with the Postal service. It is mail/wire fraud and it is a federal crime. If both of the victims get...

Re: DME replacement schedule BCBS Excellus (NY)

Well, good luck anyway. It may be worth a call. Trying to remember the name of the gent that was office manager of the Henretta, NY office. He was a xpap user and full of info. Retired from Kodak. Best wishes! Cindy His first name was John but I can't remember his last name. I used to frequent the ...

Re: aloha pillows bounced back

We need to spread the word. My DME wants $49 for a set of pillows--the most insurance will allow! That's freakin' ridiculous! They are only $20 at our hosts site. And I was going to ask you if you ever did boil your comfortgel mask. I had one given to me but I have been too busy to experiment with ...

Re: Would an oximeter purchase normally be covered w/ins?

Most insurance companies along with Medicare/Medicaid won't cover it unless you are on oxygen. Even then they won't cover a recording unit, just one to spot check O2 levels.

Re: Please compare the Aloha to the Swift LT for fit and comfort

I have both and have found the Aloha a little more stable and comfortable. The pillow size is about the same but I find the Aloha a little more comfortable. Even though the FX is lighter, I like the Aloha better. After 2 nights with it I haven't had to readjust it when rolling over. Swift Lt Pro's B...

Re: OT - How to Interview a Nursing Home

Go to an area that the staff are cleaning. If you can't smell the cleaner, then they are not cleaning it right or diluting the cleaning chemicals too much making them ineffective against disinfection. A facility should never cut corners anywhere. I have to say I disagree with this. I worked at a Qu...

Re: OT - How to Interview a Nursing Home

I am facing major back surgery and was told that I need to go to a rehabilitation facility afterwards for 4-6 weeks. I have been going to various facilities in the area to check which one I would want to go to. While the list is a good starting point there are a couple of things that I would add to ...

Re: new aloha pillow?

Bob, yes, I do wash it with dish-washing soap at least 3 or 4 times a week and I use diaper type wipes on the other nights. Chunkyfrog, I have a question. You said: "and soak in 50/50 white vinegar and water first for a half hour; then boil. 2 qts (about, whatever) filtered or distilled water 1 or ...

Re: OT: A lesson in irony . . .

.YES, we are a bunch of spoiled rotten people and we got that way by getting handouts and freebes from a government that think its easier to give than to create more jobs and make people work for what they have. Why arn't receipiants of food stamps and welfare made to work for what they are getting...
