One Week Later
Thanks for your support and suggestions. The technique of practicing relaxed breathing has been very helpful. The condensation issue resolved nicely at a lower setting. I am still in the "toughing it out" phase. I had to change to a different mask (ResMed Ultra Mirage II) after 5 days because of a v...

Actually, the CRNP I communicate with at the sleep lab is very open minded in terms of listening and sharing information. She said the Encore report showed RDI between 8.3 and 15.4 at 17 cm pressure. There was minimum mask leak (ResMed Mirage nasal mask). She asked if I thought I could tolerate incr...

Auto C-Flex vs Auto A-Flex?
After reviewing the SmartCard data for first week on REMStar Auto with A-Flex (AHI = 72; 02 desat = 72%; pressure setting 9-17 cm), Sleep Lab wants to increase my pressure to 18 cm and switch me to C-Flex. Two questions: 1. Is 18 cm setting considered "high", or "very high" range? 2. Why would they ...

Yes, I have been experiencing the same feeling during my first week with REMStar Auto M Series with A-Flex (diagnosis = severe; setting = 9 to 17 cm). I have been waking up around 2:00 am with chest-lung discomfort and pressure maxing out near 17. I had trouble getting back to sleep at 17 cm the fir...

Diagnosis UPDATE
So, the Sleep Lab called back a day later and told me that after reviewing my second CPAP titration test they are still not satisfied that the pressure level is high enough. Evidently the test at 14 cm did not bring down the AHI to an acceptable level, so now they are ordering an "in-home auto titra...

Diagnosis
I met with the doctor this morning and learned my diagnosis:
AHI = 72
Oxygen saturation of 72%
Rx for CPAP pressure seeting = 13.
I understand that AHI of >30 is considered "severe". What are the ramifications of an AHI of 72?

Second CPAP Titration Test
My ENT ordered a second CPAP titration test because he did not feel the lab had tested at a high enough pressure in the first test. Highest pressure in first test was 9 cm H2O. Highest pressure in second test was 14 cm H2O and the tech said they showed good results at this pressure. Two questions: 1...
