Thanks for the answers, everyone. Especially Rested Gal, who went in to so much detail. With this base of information, I should be able to "go digging" and learn the things I need to know. I can see that I won't really know how to take advantage of a data capable machine until a get a good grasp on ...

I sometimes wake up with a dry nose and feeling like I need to sneeze if my maks has been leaking. Not sure why that should be, but there does seem to be a correlation there for me. Also the DME recommended setting #2 on humidifier, but I find that #3 makes a big difference for me as far as comfort....

Interesting that so many people like the Respironics OptiLife mask. It does seem to sell according to the numbers on Cpap.com. However, as for me, I hate the dang thing. I have used a CPAP machine for 6 months now, and have tried 4 different nasal pillow masks. In order of comfort and effectiveness ...

Thanks Gumby and Rip. Those are good links to get me started. The definitions offered by RipVW already put a few things into perspective. I appreciate the detailed reply. Also found some useful information on the Resperonics web site. And of course there's ALWAYS Google. The Pro you are planning to ...

It would seem that you might benefit most from the nasal pillow type of mask. I've used 4 different ones in the six months I've been using a CPAP machine. The Breeze for me required a little too much pressure from the straps to make a tight enough seal. The least invasive mask I've used, which offer...

RipVW, Thanks. That makes sense. But I guess, what I'm really asking is how do I educate myself to achieve the desired benefits from the card and software? For example, where would I go to learn about the things that seem to be "taken for granted" by most of the experienced users here. Things like.....

Why have a smartcard and software?
Been using a Respironics M Plus for 6 months now. I'm enjoying the snore-free sleep and restful nights. I'm sold on using a CPAP machine. I now have an opportunity to get a new machine so I'm wondering about the benefits of upgrading to a "Pro" machine with a smart card. So I'd like to educate mysel...

Hmm, I'd ask what the "panty-hose" thing is, but I'm really not sure I want to know.Country4ever wrote:Hi all,
I couldn't figure out the panty-house things, and all the head bands were too small.

Do You Read in Bed with your Mask On??
I see lots of comments on the forum (and even in the product challange that recently finished) about being able to use a mask while wearing eye glasses is a desireable trait. For the life of me, I can't figure out why that would be so. When I go to bed, the first thing I do is prepare my mask and th...

ozij, When rating noise level, one would intuitively give a higher score to the more quiet mask, since "less noise" is the desireable trait. At least thats the way I rated it, and I'd think most people would do the same. I never used the original Swift, but I've seen lots of complaints of noise in t...

Question about Ramp......that's just how the pressure starts out low and increases over a set amount of time, so we don't feel so much pressure at the beginning, right? I think its called "settling" on my machine? Why would people not want that? I think it's simply a matter of choice. Not everyone ...
