This is nothing to worry about. The claim just needs to be sent to the proper office. Milkman, I love you. I had no idea what the code meant and I thought that they were denying it because I'd already had CPAP service provided by the DME. Why do they have to use such confusing language! Well, I kno...

Thanks Mindy, for the great advice! I had a feeling I was in for a fight when I got started with all of this but the stress of the holidays, plus a huge, huge test coming up tomorrow... It just couldn't possibly be worse timing. I wish the letter would have just come a few days later so I could have...

When you took the plus back did you sign any papers? What were the papers you signed? No, they never asked me to sign anything. Yikes. That is horrendous what they did to you though! Sounds completely illegal to me! Have you talked to the insurance company about why you ditched the DME? Sort of, no...

Just needed someplace to rant. I submitted a claim to my insurance - Excellus BCBS for the CPAP that I purchased from cpap.com, after dumping my rotten, rotten DME. I used wulfman's advice and made up my own invoice with myself as the billing party. I included my prescription and a copy of my bill f...

Re: A Frustrasted Newbie
I sleep on my side and I just feel like the mask and the hose are engulfing me, not fitting right, not sealed correctly, too tight, too lose---you name it. Side sleeping is tough for me as well... I still haven't been able to find the right combo of mask and pillow that won't cause leaks when I tur...

I was on Provigil for at least a year before I was properly diagnosed with OSA. It was pretty great if I remember correctly. Problem was, you can't take it with birth control pills because it makes them ineffective . Plus it causes birth defects! The nurse practitioner that prescribed it to me did n...

When I try to inhale, it'll be on the exhale pressure, and sometimes, it will drop the pressure half way through my inhale, which causes a loss of air sensation and causes me to breathe deeper. Me too! I found it to be a very odd sensation so I switched back to C flex and found that much more pleas...

Come to think of it, my DME did the exact same thing to me. I refused to accept the Plus model and waited for them to order the Pro that I originally insisted upon. Took a few days, but I got the right machine. It's so upsetting to me but I've heard a number of stories on this board that are just l...

After switching from auto to set pressure, I noticed a large improvement in my energy and 'rested feeling'. Me too. I've only been on xPAP for a little over 2 months but I started on APAP (setting: 4-20) and initially I felt much better- but not completely rested. I was still having to take naps ev...

As one of the people that prefers to run her APAP in CPAP mode, I'd just like to say that at least on my machine, CPAP is much quieter. I also sleep much more soundly in CPAP mode because all the changes in pressure would wake me up in the middle of the night. I also feel much more rested since I sw...

Sorry if I came off a bit harsh with my replies to your posts yesterday ... just seemd like you needed a swift kick in the butt to stand up for your health No, you're right, I sure did. I'll be the first to admit that I'm spineless. Last night without the CPAP was absolutely horrible, by the way. I...

I was helping an elderly relative, who's 82 years old. They nearly all seem to be like this. It's hard to believe, but it's true. Ugh. I couldn't live with myself if I did something like that to an 82 year old woman. Aren't these people supposed to be in the medical profession in order to help peop...

I called my insurance company prior to returning the PLUS and had their blessing on changing DME's. Check! Make sure you call the insurance company and clue them in on what is going on so that the DME doesn't keep charging you for a machine that you don't have. Will do. I don't want them to get a d...
