Re: Real men do NOT need instructions.....

Real men do need instructions. They typically neither seek nor follow them, though. Personally, I've always felt that if I have to read instructions or a manual to do something, it's too damn complicated. However, I have been forced to result to referring to them.......(on occasion). Unfortunately,...

Re: Mask Need a Script?

Or you can take the word of an online supplier: http://1800cpap.com/cpap-machine-mask-prescription-policy.aspx Interesting, that site indicates it's a recent change on masks . More ammunition for the medical mafia protection racket. (sigh) RIIIIIIGHT! Here's a link to a post/thread from Johnny Good...

Re: Which S9 Autoset Manual is the most recent?

I printed a copy of the s9 autoset manual from Uncle Bob's link. On the front is says ResMed AutoSet & Elite and the last page says 2009 Resmed. I requested an email of the s9 manual from some administrator. On the fron it says Resmed AutoSet & Elite & Escape and the last page says 2010 Resmed. Res...

Re: New CPAP user

I have been on CPAP for 3 months and I haven't found that much relief. I started out with a FFM and that was horrible with leaks and the strap in the bottom of my neck gave me headaches. I then tried a nasal mask and this seemed to be better but I have constant problems with it leaking and waking m...

Re: New to cpap and making life long connections.

Since you're dealing with Kaiser, about the only way you're going to get a data-capable machine is to buy it out-of-pocket. Not so, Wulfman! Kaiser of Northern California (I don't know about other regions) ONLY provides data capable Respironics System One Pro's, autos or Bipaps depending on the res...

Re: Pressure sore question

Wulfman, I'll have to keep your suggestion in mind too. Never quite thought of doing the tightening like that: Loose on top and tight on bottom. Always learning a new trick Starlette I'd use the word "snug". One other thing or two.......I have always positioned the forehead support in the position ...

Re: New to cpap and making life long connections.

Since you're dealing with Kaiser, about the only way you're going to get a data-capable machine is to buy it out-of-pocket. The "up-side" of that is that you'd have a backup machine for various purposes (like traveling). Hope everything goes well with your cancer. From my own experience, I spent a w...

Re: Pressure sore question

No problem. Hang in there and good luck.
Sometimes some of these things (suggestions) can seem counter-intuitive, but there are no hard and fast rules for everything. It's a matter of just TRYING different things till you come up with what works for you.

Re: Pressure sore question

so just enough tightness to keep it from leaking? Yep. It can be a fine balance to find the "just right" spot, but when you do, try not to make adjustments after that. A good bed pillow can make a huge difference, too. "Standard" pillows can push the mask out of alignment and make the leak situatio...

Re: Pressure sore question

I'm investing in the pads and such, but I wanted to ask a basic question on dealing with pressure sores on the bridge of my nose. While I first started wearing Hi-Tec boots (it's kind of tactical boot) I had horrific blisters, and kept loosening the fit. Eventually, as the stupid things were nearly...

Re: Full Face Masks

The same people who own and run cpap.com (and cpaptalk.com) also own Health Management Services. https://www.hmssleep.com/main.php I will not believe that until I see it from an authoritative source. HMS has been reviewed poorly on the board, for example http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=...

Re: Full Face Masks

Somehow in my sleep-deprived haze I remembered, though, that I had another, old UMFF mask somewhere - so I went on a hunt for it, found it, and with some old parts and some duct tape was able to patch it together enough to minimize links and enable me to sleep without suffocating to death. RG would...
