Falling out of love with my CPAP

I loved the CPAP the first night I used it. For about three years I wore a couple different nasal masks with a pressure of 8. Then about a year ago I started wearing it less and less because of nasal stuffiness. I'd try to go back to it but it was uncomfortable or too hot or I kept waking up with le...

Re: Why does this mask leak so much now?

I just got a Mirage II Nasal Mask and I'm having problems with it too. I can't get it to stop leaking. Even if I get it sealed it begins to leak after I've been asleep for awhile and my husband is shaking me awake to tell me. At times when it does seal, it's the quietest mask I've used, so I hate to...

I'm not getting up to the bathroom during the night!

Can anyone explain to me the reason for fewer trips to the bathroom during the night while using CPAP? If I don't wear my CPAP (I confess, I fell off the wagon for awhile!) I get up AT LEAST twice a night. With my CPAP, I don't get up at all. Another good reason to be a hose-head.

One year evaluation

I recently had another sleep study after being on CPAP for one year. My health has improved and I'm having no problems, and no complaints so this apparently this was just a follow-up. My question is: they told me to bring the mask that I ususally use, but that they would supply the machine. What if ...

Weight loss with CPAP

I have to chime in here regarding CPAP increasing the potential for successful weight loss. I started CPAP a year ago and I've lost 32 pounds. (And I really do think they're "lost" for good!) It's not a miracle, but I think because I don't feel as tired all the time and don't have headaches I've bee...

Problem with Simplicity?

" I did try the minime and it did even more damage than the simplicity, I ended up going back to the simplicity 5 days after trying the minime."

Lynne, what kind of problem did you have with the Simplicity?

(I'm sure I didn't do the quote thing right - sorry)

Happy Ending

I returned the Comfortlite mask to Praxair and reminded them that I wanted a Comfortlite 2. When I had not heard from them in two weeks, I called again. At your advice, I said "I know that these masks are tested and approved by the FDA so Praxair doesn't need to test them further. I know people who ...

Un-hose question

When I open a topic, the original comment is the first one I see. I have to scroll down and/or go to another page to read the latest discussion. Is there a way I can re-set the way I'm seeing the posts so that the most recent one is listed first? Thank you.

Need clip for Mirage Swift

I've lost the clip for my Mirage Swift. Does anyone have one that they're willing to sell? Thank you!

Mask no longer tacky

Hello all, I, too am back for another visit. Started my CPAP around six months ago and you guys really helped me a lot! I have another question - I use the Comfort Lite nasal mask. I have about three masks, and after using them for a month or so, they're no longer "tacky" - that is, they don't seem ...

Good to hear you're looking forward to going to sleep tonight - your experience with having trouble sleeping was similar to mine - I agree that we might get all wound up with the newness of the whole thing. You're doing fine and good attitude counts for a lot. Sandy

Amy, I really understand how this hot weather can magnify every problem - I've actually thought about dropping some ice cubes into the water in my humidifier! Haven't done it - don't think it would be a good idea, but that's how the heat can affect us. Sorry your DME isn't the swiftest but keep plug...

The Inferior Vena Cava is the lower part of the vein, the Superior Vena Cava is the upper part - but it's all one vein. You're right - it does empty into the heart - on it's way to the lungs. All blood passes through the heart on the way to AND from the lungs.

The Vena Cava is the biggest vein in your body - runs right up the middle, slightly to the right. Takes blood back to the lungs to get more oxygen. When you lie on your left side, it takes the pressure off the vein, especially if you're overweight or pregnant.
