Re: Whats the best tip you learned from CPAP talk?
Liners! Liners! Liners! If one layer doesn't work, try two or three. Not only do they keep the silicone from touching my face, they muffle the leak noises that kept me awake for the first couple of years.

Re: Mask liner question
Try to lower the nose hole so it doesn't cover your nostrils. If you can feel the material moving in and out with your breath, you probably need to move it down.

Re: OT Need Prayers Update
Ellen,
I don't check in as often as I used to, so I totally missed your first posting, but have gone back to read it. I am so sorry that this happened to your SIL, such a brave man.
I'm in Richmond, please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
Bev

Re: I triple dog dare you...
Nice try, chearyshe! There are other sites, but I can't remember the names for them. I had trouble with photobucket yesterday, too. There was nothing to click that allowed you to browse your hard drive for a picture. I scrolled all over and finally found a place that had a little hand and clicked on...

Re: I triple dog dare you...
What I did was set up an account with photobucket.com and upload the picture from my computer to there. Then, you can copy the code from below the picture, the one that starts with IMG, and paste it into your post. After that, hit preview to see if the picture loaded correctly, hit "submit" and you ...

Re: OT: My Little Granddaughters!
Dori, I don't get to see them often in person, just on Skype. I've only seen Alan once and it was a year and a half ago. I haven't been to Europe since I got on CPAP and I go over 5 years in a couple of weeks. I'm just too tired to travel that far. I was hoping that CPAP would help but after all thi...

Re: OT: My Little Granddaughters!
Oh, Dori! Your grandaughters are beautiful! And I would not be a good grandma if I didn't bring out a picture of my Spanish darlings during their recent visit to Venice. The little one just turned 2 on Friday and his sister is 6. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj86/OutaSync-photos/Mike%20and%20I...

I really never had seen myself in mask until I took this picture. I think I win for scariest. SU, you couldn't possibly look worse than this! http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj86/OutaSync-photos/P8050433.jpg This is the Softgel on an old Activa frame with two layers of liner, padacheek forehead p...

Re: POLL: Sleep apnea symptoms that CPAP solved for you
I fall into the category of CPAP not being beneficial in any way that I can see or feel. In fact, it is just another pain that I've strapped onto my face every night for four and a half years.

Congratulations on the new baby!
I've forgotten to top off my humidifier a couple of times and it has given me a rude wakening, too. It smells kind of funky when the water is gone and that is sure to wake me up.

Re: anyone used a wrist sleep monitor ?
If you mean like the FitBit, then, yes, I have used it. It can only measure motion, so if you don't move it thinks you are sleeping. I can lie there an hour before the pain is so bad, I have to move, and the Fit Bit always says I was asleep in 4 or 5 minutes and woke up after an hour. But it's very ...

deerslayer,
It's nice to see you posting. I'm sorry for what you have gone through. When I saw your topic I was afraid that we were going to hear that you'd been in an accident, but this is just as bad.
Speedy recovery!
Bev

Exactly!! My sister snores like a freight train but won't get tested because she sleeps "just fine".
I go in tomorrow for a myocardial imaging test.
