Help For My Husband

I have been using CPAP for several years now and know how much it can help. He on the other hand just got diagnosed with sleep apnea about 6 months ago. He is having a really difficult time using his machine and still hasn't accomplished sleeping with it all night long. I need some tips for him. He ...

Sleep Study Questions

My husband, and I now both have sleep apnea. We got a copy of his sleep study the other day and I was looking at it. I'm curious about something. It seems that neither he nor I ever got into REM sleep during our sleep studies.... Is that common? Did any of you get into REM? Isn't apnea usually worse...

Insurance, etc...

Help... my husband was just diagnosed with sleep apnea and I'm trying to figure all this out about insurance. He has BCBS and I know it's supposed to be cheaper to go online. Can anyone give me insight about all this and billmyinsurance.com? It's all so confusing!

Please Help - Nose Sore

I'm using the activa mask which for the most part I really like and is working well for me.... except... I have had this sore on the bridge of my nose for about a month now and it won't go away... I've tried using a bandaid there at night but that doesn't really help. Do you have any ideas? I tried ...

Help Me! URGENT

Please help me. Tell me what happened. I have a REMStar Auto machine and use a mirage activa mask. Been using it for probably about a year now. Set to 9 - 15. I tape my lips. Last night I woke up and literally could not breathe. I mean NO air was going through. I tore my mask off and the tape off an...

I definitely think that you need to get treatment for this. Don't rest until the doctors have atleast let you try CPAP. Sometimes they will be reluctant to let you try CPAP if you only have "mild" sleep apnea, but I would urge you to make sure that they let you. Sometimes you don't even know what yo...

I HATE tape!

I tape my mouth shut every night so that I don't have mouth leaks and wake up hissing. But I can't STAND tape. In the mornings when I pull my tape off sometimes I'll pull off some of my skin with it. Right now my skin under my lips is all red and yucky because of that. I'm sure I'm just making it wo...

REM vs Deep Sleep and Tape Questions

Hi y'all. Haven't posted in a while, but I was reading an article in the reader's digest this morning on the meaning of dreams and my curiousity was aroused. I remember seeing posts about this before so forgive me if this has been beat to death. I don't know how many have read the article, but it wa...

CPAP and Coughing and other questions

Hi guys. I haven't posted here in a while, but I have a couple of questions for all of you. There seems to be a period of time every once in a while where I can't use my mask every night for about 1 week. One night I wake up and I start coughing and I have to take the mask off and I still feel like ...

I seemed to have posted on the other one before I read this one. Oops... silly me Then I'll probably post this and then see another one that changes that post, but here goes anyway. It's very common for there to be a long adjustment period where you are FINALLY able to sleep all night long with the ...

I just want to add this. Even if you have a low AHI like 8 or 10 or something below the cutoff and high oxygen numbers like 95% or anything above 90, you could STILL be feeling the effects of not sleeping well. If this is the case with you, you might want to consider atleast trying a CPAP. It very w...

Still Frustrated

I'm a little bit frustrated right now as you could probably tell from the subject. On my sleep study apnea showed as mild (my sleep stages were fairly normal except not getting into REM at all). I was always tired though and didn't have much energy. Would wake up in the morning just feeling like I s...

I am hesitant to reply as I know this is such a heated topic. I personally am only about 35 lbs overweight, but the way I feel I might as well weigh 400 lbs. I am absolutely disgusted at society and the way skinny people are exalted. It makes me very upset. There are so many body image problems beca...

i don't know how many of you have seen "Notting Hill" but maybe we should consider having a contest for the most pitiful story and whoever wins someone can ship them out a brownie.

but seriously, sorry for both you guys and hope things improve soon.
