I didn't say the messages proved he was wrong, they simply warned me that he is unstable and should be avoided at all cost.

jskinner, there's nothing wrong with changing your own pressure as long as the change is based on reliable data and an informed understanding. The only problem I see is that most of the members of this board are adjusting their pressure based on information from a software program that was never mea...

WearyOne, No, I don't have any objections to the end-user having the software for informational purposes only. BUT in the words of someone who was much wiser than I "A little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing". I can almost hear the moans and groans from some readers about this comment from here...

I would need to know exactly what kind of problems you (or anyone in particular) are or have been having and what you have already tried to fix the problem(s). As I'm sure you already know there isn't one fix to solve every problem for everyone. We all have different problems and unfortunately not e...

Geeeeeez, maybe you guys should learn to lighten up a little bit and have some fun. Why can't an open exchange of ideas and knowledge be FUN? I started out on a serious note and got slammed for being too preachy. I started over on a more fun loving approach and now you want to slam me for that too. ...

Keep in mind that at the sleep lab you are also being monitored visually by the tech and most of the extraneous data can be manually manipulated to eliminate aberrant readings.

rested gal, you got most of the BIG reasons right but there is a little more to it then that. The software is taking in data through the tubing only which means that even though it can "sense" and record changes in flow, vibrations, etc... it can not directly measure some very important readings, wh...

GumbyCT, not even close. DMEs don't make any money from this software. Who would they bill? Can't bill Medicare or Medicaid because it's not covered. Can't bill private insurance companies for the same reason. Can't bill anyone to read or compile a report from the data either. Your right about the f...

rested gal, you might also be interested to know that the devices I sell on cpapauction.com are less than $50.00 over what I paid for them which is really pi**ing off my venders who have threatened to cut me off if I don't rise my prices. I guess that's what you get for trying to offer a reasonable ...

Keep in mind that PAP software is not intended for end-users and it's not because they think patients are a bunch of idiots who could not possibly understand how to read the data. Anyone want to venture a guess as to why?

It IS against the law for your DME company to change your pressure without a new prescription from your doctor but there is no law preventing you from changing your own pressure. Good idea or bad idea? I guess it depends on the patient and the available data and wisdom.

Talk about stirring up a hornets nest!!!! I think most of you misinterpreted my post as preachy because I was so concerned about the negative impact on your health that I didn't take the time to sugarcoat my post. I will try to begin again by introducing myself and giving you a brief background so y...

I don't think you'll see many more RTs posting on this site with replies like "Preach your RT crap somewhere else." But good luck to you all and try to be more open to others opinions especially when it comes from someone with a lot of personal experience.

sharon1965, you don't find "Preach your RT crap somewhere else." to be rude? To answer your question (which will likely be the last time I post anything on this board) simply, No. If your mouth is not taped shut and your oxygen level drops you will most likely just open your mouth and stop breathing...
