*** edited - skip my skeptical post and read the ones below which are encouraging ******* I'm really sorry to hear about your tough situation. With all of the stories from mostly functioning adults who have a hard time getting used to xPAP, I can't even imagine that a sleep deprived 4 year old with ...

I missed this whole thread! I'm sorry I never responded to your first question. I'm glad to hear the surgery and recovery went so well! I just have one life-changing question for you..... How could you possibly be sleeping on your back with the water bottle / tennis balls / porcupine on you back? Yo...

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better. I believe your recovery challenges were more from the turbinate/bone spur portion of the surgery. Septoplasty alone doesn't have to be so rough. I had splints with breathing tubes instead of packing and was able to breath through my nose. I used my full face m...

The very nature of CPAP pretty much ensures it won't directly cause distant side-effects. You're forcing air into your lungs (and sometimes out your eyes, into your stomache, etc.). You could certainly get some direct side-effects like gas, dry eyes, sinuses, bruised and sore skin, etc, but much mor...

No need to be so bold I'm about one month post-op. I had septoplasty and pillar implants. I believe I had an excellent ENT and a bad anesthesia experience. When I woke up in recovery, my throat was on fire. It hurt to breathe and I couldn't speak. I brought my cpap machine and had to make violent ge...

You probably weren't logged in for your first post, but the website recognizes your IP address and hints that Guest is probably Stevoreno. I was told to take my insomnia meds (a little bit of gabapentin) for my sleep study. Your meds are in a different league so they might not want you to take them....

Whatever your reasons are for not buying online, I'll recommend Health Complex Medical Supply in Danbury. They're my DME and so far they've blown me away by getting me what I wanted without any hassle including auto-shipping monthly supplies. They have a fitting room for masks and probably some part...

ear plugs baby! Haven't you guys all figured out that flux capcitors and forty-weight ball bearings are old school? It's all about the ear plugs! I know your sleepy brain is thinking "hey, maybe my apnea went away and I'll actually sleep better without this wet crushing mask with a cumbersome hose s...

Sore throat
I'm just back online from septoplasty and pillar implants yesterday morning. Not much nose or palate pain or bleeding - tylenol would be fine. I can even put my CPAP mask on - which is a good thing. As soon as I came out of general my throat started burning and hasn't stopped. At times it brings tea...

First, you have my sympathy and I'm sure most of the people here have had similar experiences and hope things get easier for you. For me, it helps to feel a little more empowered when dealing with the roadblocks our insurance and medical system throw up. You have control of the situation and some ch...
