Re: need advice from the experts here
I would be skeptical of moving to a CPAP after being on the BiPAP and owning one. Most BiPAP machines can be put into a CPAP mode. So the need to buy a new machine sounds like a new insurance claim rather than being a necessity. A BiPAP at 11cm is still comfortable to use for some people. Great on t...

Re: Cleaning CPap Equipment
I don't clean my hose unless I have had some rainout (I stopped using a humidifier years ago). So that also stops me from cleaning my humidifier tank (although, i would normally rinse it with just tap water, I also use tap water - we have very soft water where I live so no scale builds up on the hum...

Re: Reading PR system One REMstar SD card
Yes, you can go through the clinician menu on the machine to change the pressures. Each machine and manufacturer provide access to the clinician menu in a different way. The easiest way is to get a copy of the clinician manual or card that came with your machine. The DME normally takes that out, but...

Re: Right Back Where I Started, Exhausted
Your equipment information didn't show up in your post. I am helping a friend that was diagnosed with OSA about 2 months ago. His wife mentioned that he was still snoring and stopping breathing with his CPAP machine on and mask on. The doctor ended up adjusting his pressure. He ended up going throug...

Re: What to do at Hotel
I just leave mine out now. For years when I traveled I would pack it away. Now, I just put a washcloth over the mask and put it on top of the machine. Sometimes I have had to unplug lamps or clocks to plug my BiPAP in. On occasion I have had to stretch a cord across the room, in that case I unplug i...

Re: General Software Question
I have an Respironics M-Series BiPAP Auto with a Smart Card and use the Encore Software to read my card. It works well for me. The newer Repironics machines (PR System One) do not have software available for end users of the machines, for that reason people are not buying those. I have a friend that...

Re: card reader??
On Intel based Macintoshes you can use Bootcamp (free from Apple), VM Ware or Parallels (both about $80 through various discounts and such). You will need a copy of Windows (of some sort) Getting a license is normally just looking at an older machine that someone is getting rid of and writing down t...

Re: Help for a friend, which machine?
I would suggest a BiPAP Auto. That is what I ended up getting my dad. He has severe sleep apnea was diagnosed 15 plus years ago, he has not however been compliant for all but 4 months of that time. So this year I bought him a M-Series BiPAP Auto (just like mine) and then set it up and have used the ...

Re: card reader??
I ended up buying my Mako Card Reader (compatible with the Encore software with Smart Cards) for $54 plus $8.35 for shipping (but it was in my state so only 1 day UPS).
The price for that reader is all over the place. I missed out in an auction for it, so the $63 wasn't too bad, beats the 135.

Re: Tell me your power outtage backup plans
We had the power out for 6 days a couple of years ago (winter ice storm). I have a generator that I can power the house with. So at night I could run the generator to power my BiPAP machine and keep the freezer and refrigerator working. Now that I have a newer machine, I will be setting up to use a ...

Re: enquiry on ordering a new CPAP machine
Jocelyn, It really depends on what his diagnosis was and what kind of numbers he got from his sleep test. I was put on a BiPAP for my first machine. It was very easy to be compliant from the beginning (once the mask issues were worked out). I am kind of partial to the BiPAP since it is easier to exh...

Re: How many hours of use are on your machine?
My new machine (the M-Series) only has 320 hours on it. My previous machine Sullivan VPAP II has 25,800 hours on it. It still works, but I do like my new M-Series.

Re: Comfortlite2 - Hair flattening
I actually prefer the previous version of this mask (but it was more fragile while traveling or even just putting aside during the day). You can see the https://www.cpap.com/viewImage.php?PNum=1833&Image=C11306-c1_RGBLo.jpg comfort lite didn't smash your hair like the new one. This mask feels more s...

Re: Any experience with CPAP Pro "No Mask"??
I had bought one of these and fitted it. Tried it for a few nights. I found that it loosened one of my crowns and so I stopped using it. It also caused my lips to split at the initial usage. I just found it very uncomfortable. I went back to a nasal direct seal mask. I have never had a problem keepi...
