I got put on BiPAP because of high pressure is what they told me. (17.5 IP 14 EP) with bi-flex=2 is what was titrated on the sleep study, I have since bumped it to 19/16 to get a .5 AI and a 1.5 AHI. Sounds like you and I are on the same wavelength. I'm currently at 18 IPAP, 15 EPAP, biflex at 3. D...

Jilly, I hope someone corrects me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's not a matter of preference, but rather what was prescribed for you as a result of your sleep study. Of course, whatever machine you end up getting doesn't have to be the machine you settle for if you have problems. BiPAP uses two dif...

My second cousin had OSA she stopped using her CPAP and she fell asleep one night and never woke up. She wasn't very old she was around 50 when she passed and wasn't extremely overweight either. There was no other cause she just stopped breathing. I miss her very much and wish I would of known she ...

Just keep in mind that every mask works differently for different people. For example, the Resmed Ultra Mirage full-face mask doesn't leak a single bit for me. Rich03079 says the Quattro works great. I've heard many people say the same thing. I've also heard people say the Ultra Mirage seals great w...

I absolutely agree that everybody is different, and diffferent people respond differently to different therapies. I've been a hosehead for only a month, but long enough to know that everybody's different. I NEVER said the success rate with oral appliances is zero. I NEVER said the success rate with ...

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but I recently attended an A.W.A.K.E. meeting with a dentist as a guest speaker. This guy stopped practicing "everyday" dentistry and is solely in business to provide oral appliances for OSA folks. The success rates of oral appliances aren't very high, especi...

Re: A good sealant
Definitely! I try not to think about that either and also try not to look at myself in the mirror all tricked out Mindy The problem is, definitely need a mirror to fit the mask on. That's when the laughter begins. I read somewhere that mask fitting should be done while laying on your stomach, facin...

If they can get other resmed masks, they can order it for you. Don't believe them if they say they "don't stock it"--that is complete and utter crap. If they keep telling you stuff like that, I would fire them and take my insurance money somewhere else. The weird thing is, I think I look pretty pro...

Not sure if I'll get the chance to try the Libery. I had to pay for the Hybrid out of my own pocket, as the medical equipment company didn't carry it. At $150 a pop, I think I'll have to stick with the masks that the medical equipment company handles. And they don't handle the Liberty. But thanks fo...

If you are having trouble sealing without lansinoh, you may need the next bigger size pillows. jen Unfortunately, I am already using the largest pillows that the Hybrid mask comes with. I think my nostrils are the size of a typical 55-gallon drum. I can insert the entire mask into my nose - pillows...

What a coincidence: I was about to post the question as to whether anyone knew of a cream or something that would help pillows stick to the nares. So this stuff gets sticky after it's applied? My Hybrid mask is comfortable, but the blasts of air keep waking me when the pillows slip out and start sho...

I've been a hosehead for a month now. A couple weeks ago, I was at an A.W.A.K.E. meeting with a doctor as a guest speaker. I told him that before BiPAP therapy, I was awakening every morning alert and raring to go. Since starting therapy, I feel groggy for a few minutes upon awakening. This is exact...
