Re: First night of CPAP: the noise factor
Hey RoboLobo, Good to hear that second night went better!! As far as your questions -- I don't think I have any answers but as usual I wlll make an attempt I don't know about Flonase ... if you're thinking of using it for a stuffy nose (clogged sinuses), you might want to search the posts for "sinus...

Re: Resmed is refusing to fix my broken auto-pap machine
I would just go out and buy a new machine. Its just not worth the hassle. They are so cheap in the US anyway. Hmmm, ozzze_dollar - not all of us would call them cheap in the US! Jwerely, one other thought. When you said they replaced the humidifier twice, do you mean they replaced just the water tan...

Re: What other health issues do you have?
Ah yes - lousy memory! At 67 I'm definitely seeing much more of slowing of memory retrieval time. Sometimes it can take quite awhile to remember a name, a place, something I'm supposed to do, etc. For me that's one of the more difficult aspects of aging.

Re: What other health issues do you have?
Right now I need to find out if weight loss is common simply with usage of a sleep apnea machine. Anyone lose weight through sleeping? I don't think simply using CPAP leads to weight loss very often. That's just an opinion; I don't have real data. However, for many people getting their sleep apnea ...

Jewelry,
Why do you think it's not the humidifier? Without the humidifier you would not have this problem.

Re: Any recent Colonoscopy participants here?
I understand your skepticism, but it's my understanding that finding polyps that could become cancerous before they get to that stage, and removing them, reduces the risk of developing difficult-to-treat colon cancer. I don't like these procedures but must admit that I've had several polyps removed...

Re: First night of CPAP: the noise factor
It sounds like you got some great suggestions. Also please keep in mind that it takes time to get used to cpap. Since it doesn't sound like your wife was seriously bothered, the noise may be coming from the air exhale ports on the mask against sheets/pillows/other bedding. Try to keep the area aroun...

Re: Any recent Colonoscopy participants here?
Did you all have to have someone with you? Yes. I was too "gorked" (drugged up) to drive, that's for sure, and the flier I got said I could not / should not take a taxi or a bus and that I should not fly (as a passenger) for 24 hours. The taxi part I thought was a bit much, but it said they would n...

Re: CPAP vs APAP vs BiPAP (poll)
I started with an M series APAP and by experimenting I found that my apneas increased when my pressure was too high. On that machine I did better in Cpap mode. I've read about that happening to some people. ThecSandman didn't do that so I ran it as an APAP. I'm currently running s9 autoset as an APA...

Re: Any recent Colonoscopy participants here?
As the original poster, I just wanted you all to know that I had my Colonoscopy this a.m., and came through with flying colors. No cancer, no polyps, no Lemmiwinks or other wildlife stuck inside me. As for anesthesia, I mentioned my Apnea and there were no overriding concerns. They gave me Versed a...

Re: Any recent Colonoscopy participants here?
They put me under using propofol. Propofol is one of the meds that cause 'conscious sedation' with some nice amnesia qualities. Because of a combination of a genetic disease and current polyp growth, I have routine scopes of my short (< 10 inches) colon and my stomach at least once a year. The plac...

Re: Any recent Colonoscopy participants here?
I read somewhere the cure rate for cancers found by colonoscopy is nearly 100%! Nice odds, very nice. Pretty much can't afford NOT to do it! Alas, I wish that were the case. I think what you must have read, chunkyfrog, is that when pre-cancerous polyps are found through colonoscopy, their removal i...
