forcing breath
I've experience the forcing the first breath too. Scared the living you know what out of me. I just wish that my autopap trial would have worked. I really thought that it was supposed to make everything better. I was diagnosed a year a go and still don't have a solution, after finding out that a den...

Me too
I too have recently acquired a fear of goin gto sleep. Just the past week really. I did a trial of autoapap and it did not help my apnea. The machine is back at the dr. office. My follow up is next week. I'm sure they will want to schedule another sleep study. Objectivley, ther eis no reason to fear...

This happen to anyone else?00
I had anindex of around 10-12 last year. I decided after about 6-8 months, to try a Somn-Med dental device. Watch-Pat results (three seperat studies) showed that my index went UP to 33!!. I thought dental devices where supposed to inprove apnea. I paid $2000 for that thing, and the dentist felt so b...

Whats going on?
I'm on night two of Cpap. Ijust woke up after being asleep for just a few minutes. I was in a panic to get air. the pressure on the autopap was ramppeed up to what must have been the max (I think 16). I had to rip the maskoff of my face and gasp for air. I thought that with cpap I would not awaken g...

My night
I do have GERD, and I take Protonix for it. I just got on it, so I will probably not see improvemenin that area for a while. My GERD is not typical in that I do not ever have heartburn or feel it. The ENT said that you can still have GERD and not taste acid in your mouth, have heartbburn etc. After ...

This sucks so far
I've been in bed an hour andhad to get up. I started to drift off to sleep three times, and all three times I woke up gasping. I'd stop breathing, then it would start increasing the pressure, then it would blow my mouth open and I'd have to rip the mask off my face to catch my breath. It gave me a k...

Exhale releif
There is not exhalation releif on this machine. It's weird in that I only wore it for <5 min total and on the way to work it felt like it took more effort to breath, since the machine was putting air in me while it ws on. It's 10:51 and I'm in that making myself tired process. The autopap is still i...

AutoPap
Unfortunatly, the machine that is on loan to me IS an auto pap. The "4" setting that she started it out on was as low as it would go. Even though it will accomidate for events, I need it high to start with, since those onset apneas wake me up. I never really get to sleep. The doctor said I apparentl...

First night
I had a fitting session today at the sleep center. It was quite a shock. The tech had to turn the apap down as far as it would go (4) so I could tolerate it. It's supposed to increase over 20 minutes or so, but my problem is my apnea tends to happen upon onset of sleep, so if it's at a 4, I can't se...

I am getting an autopap friday to try for three days, then the sleep doc is going to review some data that it apparantly keeps (is three days really long enough?) He gave me Sonata to get me to sleep, which right now works well. We'll see how it does with that mask on my face. I'll aadmit to hoping ...

A short history first. 47 year old male 6'0'' 178 lbs Regestered Nurse by profession. Diagnosed with Epilepsy at the age of 16, take Depakote for that. Seizure free for 20 years.
