I am thinking about wearing my CPAP mask to the door to hand out candy tonight. Maybe the hose as well. I could also show my original sleep study, but some of the younger kids might not understand how scary it is.
Any other ideas?

Re: Would Weight Loss Help?
Since January 1, 2007 I have lost 150 pounds. I am 6'4" and have gone from 341 to 191 pounds. for the last two months I have been at this goal weight (190's). Maybe will lose another 5 ot 10, I'll see what feels right. This has all been done by daily exercise and eating healthy foods. I am off all n...

I'm with Brenda. I'd hate to wake up dead. It would really mess up my day.

I checked back with my DME and the Machine they use is the "Watch-PAT100". He says it is 95% correct and there is usually user or clinician error involved in that other 5%. Here is a link for the unit. http://www.itamar-medical.com/Product.asp?pid=3006 I confirmed that price at $100. This includes t...

Very few people can breathe comfortably w/a mask on at 4 cms of pressure. So I wonder what would happen if I set it to straight cpap at 6 or perhaps 7. I also wondered about 4 being uncomfortable. Also to clarify. For now, I am not looking at going off my machine permanately. I love that little guy...

If you want a no-cost home study, try this to see if you can go without cpap for a few nights. Set your machine at a pressure of 4, straight cpap. Check your numbers for a night or two. See what your AHI is. If your numbers are high, then you shouldn't go without your machine. If your numbers are u...

I must say that I am honered; responces from Rested Gal, Goofproof and Snoredog right off the bat! Rested Gal, I will try to get more info this week from my DME. Goofproof, I know that I might go to my grave still using the machine, but I can at least hope that will not be the case. As to the AHI, m...

Home Sleep Study $100 Deal or No Deal?
Hi all, I have been on CPAP for about 5 or 6 years now and have been at pressures as high as 18. I have an auto bipap, so I have seen my pressure needs go down during the pase 18 months as I have lost a bunch of weight. My latest 90% pressures are 10.2 and 6 according to my auto bipap machine. My AH...

Hi, there are (minor) medical conditions that cause some people to sweat a lot more than normal - nothing to do with OSA - and your GP could refer you to a specialist to get it checked out (there are treatments). Hey Julie, Maybe you could list for us a few of those "minor medical conditions" so an...

I had those same chest aches and pains for a year or so after I started with my CPAP. My theory is that before CPAP, I was always waking and shifting positions at night. With CPAP, I stay in a much more stationary position. Even as a kid, I noticed that if I laid flat on my back on the floor, I ache...

The difficulty here is that the vast majority of DME are just plain bad. Yet there are some really good ones out there. For instance, I was able to get an Auto bipap machine (my second machine) this past spring because my DME let me try one out (at no charge) and then he guided me as to how to get m...
