I have a lot of spontaneous arousals, so it was suggested I give up caffeine. I had a coke in my hand all day, took the pills to stay awake at work in the afternoon. I gave it up, no problem. I'm a tea drinker, there's one brand I like without it & the caffeine free Coke is good too. However, I do e...

Some people say they woke up at titration feeling wonderful, but that wasn't my experience. In two months I feel much better, clearer thinking etc., but then there are days I'm tired too. If you don't get enough sleep you have to expect to be tired. Every day still isn't great for me. It isn't for p...

Hi Stevo! I've taken Synthroid for 4 years, 75mcg. My Doctor insists on checking it every three months & with the apnea it's even more important. Insist on regular testing. Most Drs run the test without mentioning it when they do a blood series, so you may have it done & didn't know it. The only ann...

Geez, they don't seem to agree on percentage. I'm still wondering about acid reflux causing swelling. I'm still having flow limitation that is higher than usual. So I'm trying meds every day to see what that does. (for the reflux) I'm a side sleeper, but do sometimes wake up on my back. I do know I ...

If you sleep on your stomach I don't see how the Optilife will work for you. It was difficult for me to get adjusted right too. Takes some playing, but when you get it right the pillows will stay there. I put the two side pieces resting on my chin, can't stand it over my mouth. You have to play with...

Get the Neilmed sinus rinse kit, a must have for sinus issues. I actually find when I use the rinse & a nasal mask my sinus issues have improved. You might want to try the Optilife. It has a strap that is built in to go under your chin. Helps to hold your mouth closed. It is a nasal mask though, so ...

Go to Walmart or local pharmacy & buy the Neilmed Sinus Rinse kit. It costs less than $20. If you use that every night it should help your sinus issues. Many of us have had the tight feeling in the chest when we first start cpap. It should go away in a few weeks, if it doesn't talk to your Dr. It is...

Thanks Wulfman. Still not sure why I had so many of them. It took some looking, but I finally found the glossary. Thanks for pointing that out.

We really need to know the type of mask you're using. I think the Nasal Aire II is by far the most comfortable. However, my results with it haven't been great. I'm going to try a smaller size prongs to see if that helps, don't want to give up the comfort. I have really gotten good results with the O...

?'s on flow limitation

I woke up this morning feeling crappy. When I checked my daily events the flow limitation was 2.9. My leak rate was up at 41 usually 30, probably because the increase in pressure was giving me puffy cheeks. My Ipap is usually 8 or 9, was 11 most of last night. Epap usually 6 was 8 most of the night....

It must be nice to have a sleep Doctor, instead of just a name on a test report. I had a lot of spontaneous arousals too. I gave up caffeine, which I drank a lot of to keep me awake, and my allergy pills with a decongestant. (except chocolate, in moderation) I don't know if it's helping, I haven't h...

You probably are mouth breathing, but it's a little soon to worry about it, in my opinion. Your first few weeks on the machine you get puffy cheeks & flutter lips. After you adjust to your pressure this doesn't happen, at least it doesn't for me. When you reach that semi awake state, just tell yours...
